During my life as a missionary I have had several people to tell me they were coming to Brazil to check us out...
That expression always bothers me...
I have never gone to any church to check them out...lol...I go to worship God. I see God and His cause much bigger than my little handful of people...

I agree there are basics and right and wrongs however to put God in some little box and say HE IS JUST LIKE THIS...I hardly agree...

Those that know me KNOW I believe in living right but living right is much more than fitting in a muffin pan...

And please do not think I am speaking evil against anyone I just wish we could be kind to one another...

people who live in muffin pans tend to be either half baked or overdone...
I don't fit in a muffin pan...
Nothing wrong with a muffin pan, as long as it doesn't have a slit in it...

Sorry, very long day, and I haven't heard from Timmy nearly enough lately. Guess someone needs to fill in the gap.

Everyone: As most of you know, I believe in holiness. Of the heart and the body. But I don't think its a Heaven or Hell issue per se. Now, if we dress a certain way in rebellion to God or have an attitude that we'll do what we want or that no one will tell us what to do, that can be a hinderance. So can dressing a certain way and feeling we have it all together or are better than someone else. And both of those attitudes can be seen on both sides of the spectrum. The attitude of someone saying they are going to come and "check you out" is wrong. Save the money. Send it to some missionary you can believe in. But if you go someplace-anyplace-looking for fault, you will surely find it. On the other hand, if you go looking for God, you'll find Him!

But I have to admit I am disappointed. When I opened the thread, I was looking forward to you saying, "I plan to visit MOW in Sandusky next Wednesday. I want to check out his church and how he does things". LOL

See, if that was the case, I'm gonna be in Sandusky next Wednesday, so I could've come to meet you at MOW's church.

missourimary; you are such a sweet and kind person...I too believe in certain standards but when people say evil things or degrading things about people who do not believe like they do I think something is wrong.
There are so many people on this forum and others places that are different yet we can love each other and pray for each other.
I am not talking about people that have some moral problem but when we teach our people our church is the only one that is right we do great harm...There are black and whites...I know that...things that are sin yet when we let little issues divide us such as...let me see....white shirts for example...I have been places that I have felt they really felt and acted like they had some special revelation from God...and if some preacher walked in and had on a red shirt he would be less christian than the one in the white shirt...
There are many Jesus name churches in Brazil...If someone cannot be saved at my church then I tell them please go to the church up the street...It is not numbers we want it is souls saved on that day and it does not matter to me if they do not go to my church as long as they are saved...

Sis Alvear, I understand totally. You know where I am, and you can probably guess from my posts (and the very fact that I'm on this board, considering you know my location) that I'm a bit disillusioned with some of the divisiveness on both sides of the fence. I hate to think that people really go thousands of miles and spend thousands of dollars to check out a missionary and make sure they are preaching certain standards. It makes my heart sick.

WOW...we were all going in our Bikini's to meet you at the airport now we will have to change our plans! We will take the humble side and show up in our robes and playing the shofar! Might get them to dance the hora...ha...

One day my phone rang and it was a certain preacher and he told me in no uncertain terms he wanted to come check us out...

Very few things really make me mad but that did...first I did not even know the preacher and what we he know in a visit checking us out...

*gasp* dance? They might dance? And a specified step at that? In the world I danced like that! *oh, my* :blush

(actually did once, really, but it sure wasn't a sin. Worse than that, it was a mixed dance, there were men and women dancing together. I also danced the minuet once at work, and the hokey pokey at church! Now time freezes on AFF as everyones screens melt down from the huge electrical surge after MM is struck by lightning for admitting such a thing...)

Oh, well, just don't meet them dancing in your bikini... You don't want them to pass out before they are off the tarmack. :thumbsup

I enjoyed square dancing and waltzing in the world, but the poor people I was dancing with didn't. I think I have three left feet.

Dad's fault. He "taught" me to dance as a kid by telling me to stand on his feet while he moved around the dance floor. He couldn't dance either, but I faithfully, dilligently learned and kept repeating the one thing he taught me-to always step on his toes!! :)

I studied roots of Jewish dancing and guess that is why it interests me...however I cannot keep time...I studied it studing Jewish history.

We will all be wearing our baptismal robes....

We will have clothes, closed in shoes, hose, and all waiting for Sherri....her jewelry we will sell to build churches...Eddie won't even know her when she walks off the plane in Memphis...

now on a serious line...when the mormon sisters left yesterday one mentioned to me how nice we treated them and that some (?) believers slammed the door in their face...

I often wonder why we all cannot be nice and uplifting...

I recieved the sweetest little video(?) it might be slide...however I am going to see if I can put it on here later today...

I promise I will leave jewelry at home, except maybe for a wedding ring and watch. I will behave to the best of my ability. I will lay down the cigarettes and alcohol for a few days. LOL! Can't do the hose thing though; I have my limits.
