Finally...the $64,000 question was asked...
Finally...the $64,000 question was asked...
Yesterday on "abc-tv" (better known as the all barrack channel) during the "network special on health care".... Obama was asked: "mr. President will you and your family give up your current health care program and join the new 'universal health care program' that the rest of us will be on ????"..... (bet you already know the answer)... There was a stoney silence as obama ignored the question and chose not to answer it !!!... In addition, a number of senators were asked t he same question and there response was..."we will think about it." and they did. It was announced today on the news that the "kennedy health care bill" was written into the new health care reform initiative ensuring that that congress will be 100% exempt ! So, this great new health care plan that is good for you and i... Is not good enough for obama, his family or congress...?? We (the american public) need to stop this proposed debacle asap !!!!... This is totally wrong !!!!! Personally, i can only accept a universal health care overhaul that extends to everyone... Not just us lowly citizens... While the washington "elite" keep right on with their gold-plated health care coverages. |

I know in the past you have not been able to provide sources, but it would be nice to see it in context. |

But I would think there would be quite a few folks that should have seen it. |
Re: Finally...the $64,000 question was asked...
No surprise. This is socialism. The koolaid drinkers are in denial.
Remember obama nominated tax cheats. Taxes are beneath them also. |

Re: Finally...the $64,000 question was asked...
The question is in Part 1 of the Complete Prescription for America from abc News. (Which was from June 24, 2009, btw--not yesterday. LOL!!!!)
Question: (from Dr. Orrin Davinski) "If your wife or your daughter became seriously ill, and things were not going well, and the plan physicians told you they were doing everything that could be done, and you sought out opinions from some medical leaders in major centers and they said there’s another option you should pursue, but it was not covered in the plan, would you potentially sacrifice the health of your family for the greater good of insuring millions or would you do everything you possibly could as a father and husband to get the best health care and outcome for your family? " President Obama DID answer, and that was where he brought in the issue of his grandmother. Answer: "… does she get hip replacement surgery even though she was fragile enough that they weren’t sure how long she would last whether she could get through the surgery. I think families all across America are going through decisions like that all the time. and you’re absolutely right that if it’s my family member, my wife, if it’s my children, if it’s my grandmother, I always want them to get the very best care. but here’s the problem that we have in our current health care system. Is that there is a whole bunch of care that’s being provided that every study, every bit of evidence that we have indicates may not be making us healthier." So, of course, even though he answered, he didn't actually answer the specific query, except to say that he wants them to get the "very best care." There wasn't "stony silence", or even any rudeness on the President's part. I'm fine with discourse on this issue, but really...some fact checking is in order. You can also read about it here, and watch the video here. |
Re: Finally...the $64,000 question was asked...
Of course, he can't internalize it because his family will have the best care for the rest of their lives no matter what he wants for the rest of us!

As to the pause, I think he seems to routinely do that, so I didn't see a big deal there, IF this is the same scenerio he was referring to in the email. As I have stated before, I personally do not have time to track down and do research on all the information sent me, I share it with you and if you want to confirm it is legit or not, go for it. I wish I had the time, but right now I don't. I love to do research, however, I have two major things I am currently working on that takes priority with my time. But I know there are many here with more time for researching and the brains to do it. :) |

Re: Finally...the $64,000 question was asked...
There is really a very simple test for this whole a fare.
Let the US government clean up, revise, make efficient and provide cost effective quality health care in the three health care programs it already has 100% control over: The Medicare, Medicaid and the VA health systems. Then, when everyone in the country - no exceptions - are all mandated to be covered by the same universal laws of the land, then perhaps the US government will have earned the right (and the trust) to manage the entire country's health care system(s). Until then, we have the fox watching the hen house. |

It should be noted that Obama's original plan was to provide all Americans the coverage option that Congress has. However, health insurance providers want to maintain their markets and the idea proved to be far more problematic than originally thought. My opinion is that IF we move toward national health insurance we should go all the way and design a single payer system. I'm afraid that while Obama's plan is at least "a plan" it will not work the way they envision. |
Re: Finally...the $64,000 question was asked...
Please note, Congress doesn't have a "gold-plated" health care plan.

Re: Finally...the $64,000 question was asked...
I want to thank everyone - on several threads - for taking the time to express their views, ideas, concepts, and what facts thay have (both real and imagined). I too have learned a few things and had t make a few corrections in my thinking.
The one thing that seems to be the underlying foundation of all of the debates, discussions and exchanges of opinions is trust. It would appear that what we have are actually two camps, those who trust the federal government and those who do not trust that government. I freely admit that I fall into the latter group. For example, I hold in my had a card that when authorized by congress back in the 30's, after a great deal of controversy (such as the medical coverage plans of today) was finally passed - with the assurance that it would NEVER be used as federal registration and identification. Even as late as the 50's my Social Security Identification card [Form OA-702 Rev. (2-54)] still has the following statement printed on the bottom (in caps): FOR SOCIAL SECURITY PURPOSES * NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION Well, we all know what happened to that government promise. The "not for identification" statement has been dropped from the cards. You cannot open (conduct) a business, including opening a checking or savings account, you cannot buy insurance or make any kind of claim, get married or divorced, obtain a passport or driver's license, or enter into any other kind of legal relationship (federal, state, local, or business). The big move to make the Social Security number the national registration number was in the 60's when all military I.D. numbers were changed over from service issued numbers to Social Security numbers. No, I remain in the "I don't trust my own government" group. For me there is really one question left: Is congress going to exempt themselves (or any federal employee) from any of the provisions in the proposed law? If the answer is yes, then I remain absolutely apposed to the government getting any further involved in this health system scheme. I continue to maintain - let them clean up the federal health care mess they currently have on their hands (government created) before taking on the entire health syetem. |
