About holiness

I was in chuch for years Got bapitized and recieved the Holy Ghost.
Then things started to happen and slowly I couldn't and didn't go to church. while I was out of church I cut my hair and even wore a pair of pants. Do you think I can be forgiven? I have repented several times and feel ashamed. Is there still hope? Can I start over? What should I do???

Re: About holiness

Yes you can be forgiven! :)

As long as there is breath in your body, there is hope! You can repent right now and come back to the Lord! :)

God bless you!

UPCWOMAN, it would be nice if a sister (that believes truth) would exchange phone numbers with you. Perhaps you two could speak over the phone about your concerns. Please know his mercies are new every morning, and though the prodigal son left the father's house, the scriptures reads the while the prodigal son was still a long way off, his father saw him and ran to him.

Though the prodigal son left the house, the father still considered him his son, as you have and are His daughter. Don't worry about what other ladies might be thinking about you. It's you who will answer to God about yourself, not them. Draw closer to God and He will draw closer to you.

Find a UPC church that is more like Jesus, if you feel it must be a UPC church. (Maybe look for an Apostolic church if there is not more than one UPC church?) What good is looking holy if they don't have the fruit of the Holy Spirit in that place? I hope you find a church with people that will help you know the love of Jesus and not the judgment of the pharisees.

Its not all of them. Its just some of them that look at me "funny" The pastor is wonderful as I have talk to him about it. I have repented and am truly sorry and vow never to cut my hair agin(Idon't know what got in me) I love my church and want to stay. I just feel different now.(maybe its just my conviction) I have been praying that the Lord will bring me through this as I have fell short.

You have repented for what? Did you sin when all this was going on? Our marks of devotion are not so much an avoidance of sin - though perhaps some do go into sinful living when they discard the conservative lifestyle.

Re: About holiness

First of all, repentance is only necessary once, as long as its sincere. Faith comes in when we believe God is merciful enough to forgive us. If you doubt His ability to forgive, you don't have faith at all. You have to choose to throw yourself (and your doubts) on His mercy, and He is big enough to handle it all.

Secondly, if people are looking down on you, go somewhere else to church. There are plenty of churches to attend, and sometimes a fresh start is a good thing. But are you sure they really are? Make sure you don't project your own feelings onto others; maybe they just feel awkward and don't know what to say. :)

Talk to God on a regular basis about everything that's bothering you, read the Word as often as you can, and find a good church where you can worship with likeminded people and hear preaching and teaching that is firmly rooted in God's Word.

It is probably just me thinking they are looking at me wrongly. I love my church and don't want to leave. I guess I am just so disappointed in myself for doing this...I need to forgive myself aswell.

I'm puzzled as to what sin you committed.

The bible says it is HER glory nor does it say that is the greatest sin.

Huh? No greater sin than cutting your hair? You're telling me that a woman trimming her hair is worse than committing adultery or killing someone? Worse than lying? Worse than witchcraft? :foottap

Me thinks this is either a) a hoax or b) someone that knows the ideas represented on AFF, and wants to hear some justification. Dr. Laura would have fun with you.

I think that most anyone that has left church for a while, or ANYWHERE, feels funny {apprehensive, anxious, etc.) and yes even self-conscious imagining that people are lookin at ya funny or somethin., it may not really
even BE that, its just part & parcel of various emotions that run rampant
in a person, when something is amiss;
Good news though, is that IF you
persevere, you will be back in the swing of things before you know it.

Just think postive thoughts when the negative ones come along, and you
WILL overcome., just takes a bit of time, and effort, on your part, is all.
I'll be prayin for ya. ;)

Strangely enough I even got an itsy bit of that feelin right at the start.,
but I shook it off, and posted assuming its true, because invariably,
somewhere this happens anyway., and someone readin might need it.

Private or personal convictions should not be taken lightly.

I just felt sooo bad that I did it and went searching for someone that may have been through this before. Let me add that I have never ever been on this site before yesterday. I am not "Sneaking around" Although I think its funny and have had a few laughs at some posts on here. I don't take my personal convictions lightly at all can you tell??? But I have forgiven myself and have fait God has forgiven me and am on my way to a knew start.

God Bless!

Ya think?! LOL

Granted not all "funsters" are as easy to spot as Ogatt and Good Sister A, but it is usually pretty obvious after a few posts. I just sit back and enjoy the conversations (and marvel at some who I can envision the veins popping out of their foreheads in anger and frustration as they take the jokesters serious).

I think it's sad that someone had been taught that if they violate their personal convictions in any way, it's like they've committed such a bad sin, they can hardly even forgive themselves.
