Strength Team in Sandusky - Pics, Awesome!!

We just began the Strength Team Crusade tonight. We had 2 programs at the jail for both the male and female population. I am chaplain for the Sheriff's Office. About 40 inmates responded to the altar call...a number of them in tears.

We had about 40 people respond to the evening service as well. We will have a baptismal service on Sunday night. The Strength Team will be with us every night through Sunday night and in schools during the day. These guys have BIG arms and huge hearts for the Lord.

They bent steel bars, ripped 2 phone books taped together, smashed bricks, unbent horseshoes, busted boards etc. THEN preached an awesome repentance message! I'll post more pics when I get them.

And what do worldly antics like this have to do with the Great Commission?

Good point. Because the guy on the donkey didn't want to cooperate.

It's the classic bait and switch!

It's kinda' like attracting visitors with your church choir and music program. Once they're comfortably in the pew the hog butchering begins. :D

I consider myself to be somewhat conservative-- and I really try to be tolerant of a lot of things that get posted here no matter which side of the fence the poster seems to be on...but sometimes it never ceases to amaze me how critical some people are.

Does it matter what method God uses to draw someone to repentance? God can use anything or anyone to reach the lost--he's looking for willing vessels that want to be used.

It's no different than using a puppet ministry to reach kids..... Reach people on a level that they will respond to.

These guys or ones like them came to my parents baptist church it was a cool display reminded me of the movie Bloodsport when the guy says "Very good but bricks don't hit back"....

The truth of the matter is that I really don't believe anything anymore, so it doesn't matter to me who comes to NLC or what they say or what method they use as long as I can get a crowd!

(just being facetious, but I'm sure some might accuse me of that)

I've never been in a Strength Team service. I'm 71 years old (will be 72 in December if I live that long and if the Lord doesn't rapture me before that) so I'm a little old to be attending a service like that. However, services (or programs if you want to use that term) like that are a great way of attracting people and presenting the Gospel to them.

It seems to me that when Jesus fed the 5000 that day, he was reaching them on the level that spoke to where they were at at that moment. He knew they wouldn't be able to hear his message if their stomach's were growling.

I seriously believe that if he were here today trying to reach the young people of our world, he would do whatever it took to reach them WHERE THEY ARE. If that means doing a program like this, that's what I think he would do. Maybe for some other kids, reaching them would involve a sports program. Or for others it might involve computer games.

Whatever it takes - you have to reach them where they are. It's a place to start. They can't grow until they've taken the initial step :)

I remember when I was part of a Strength Team ministering at a church one evening and a gymnasium the next. Ahhhh, the memories.

Now, I find the NASCAR circuit much more stimulating.

Wasn't the line "Pick one....", "Ok Frank, how about this one...", "Ok", "No, the bottom one."

It was Bruce Lee who first said "Boards don't hit back" in Enter the Dragon, which also starred Bolo Yung.

Here are some pics of the Elementary School program today. The theme was Choices. They did an excellent job. They broke a bat, bent a bar, tore a2 phone books in half, etc. They can't talk about God in the schools, but they pass out invitation cards for the evening "event" at NLC.

Here are some more from another elementary school program today. We also were able to get into the Juvenile Detention facility and they let us PREACH about Jesus! Great response. God is so awesome! :D

Here are some pics of those who responded to the altar call last night. Kids and adults! It was beautiful to see them come forward! We had about 25 who responded. God is great! We're having a baptismal service on Sunday night, so we'll see how many come back. Some had church homes and are re-dedications, so we are keeping track of that.

That "Commission" was to "go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature..."

From the pics I see a lot of happy kids. Kids that might not have been so happy to hear many other types of "Gospel preaching..." As long as it doesn't dishonor God - and thus defeat the goal of the Gospel - I say, "why not?"

Besides, I also see some rather bulked up men who have found a genuinely useful purpose for their lives. That's got to count for something, especially when you consider how too many bulked up men live their lives.

Just IMHO, of course. http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...cons/icon7.gif

Here is tonight's stage set up. These walls of concrete are getting bigger and bigger. Last night the team leader couldn't break the blocks with his head and it hurt his neck and gave him a really big headache!

He apparently is still using Donkeys in the affairs of men. Every time I listen to a press conference I hear dumb donkeys speaking!

LOL! I think I hear the same ones you do!

Yes, they do tear phone books in half. In fact, they duct taped two phone books together and tore them in half...absolutely no pre-scoring either. They also rolled up frying pans like burritos!

I think we had 30 people respond to the altar call tonight. Having a baptismal service tomorrow night! :D

Baptized 3 tonight and there were a bunch of re-dedications. The house was packed! The repentance message was awesome! Had a couple of local youth groups in attendance. I have heard numerous reports of changed lives. This was all well worth it! I am glad they came!

They came on a love offering basis only and we purchased all the materials used. A worthwhile investment!
