Ok I got a question
Ok we had a young couple in our church came one Sunday first time to attend a church and some members of the church went over and laided hands on them and prayed for them and when Sunday school started the young man stood up and testified how good of a feeling he got that he wanted to come out of his clothes the feeling felt so good..now here is the kicker they have not been back to the church since. Now my question is if this really felt as good as he said it did why would they not come back...

Re: Ok I got a question
If he was going to come out of his clothes, maybe it's a good thing they didn't - - lol!
I was in the choir one service - a real heavy move of God - - cleansing kind of service. I looked down to see this guy (about 20 yrs old) had taken his shirt off and was knelling down to pray in the pew. My mother was visiting that weekend and she was sitting RIGHT behind this guy. I about DIED. He didn't come back either. |
Re: Ok I got a question
If something that strong really happens why not come back for more I guess thats my question

Re: Ok I got a question
Has anyone followed up with them?
Maybe you'll find out or maybe they just need someone to call and let them know they care. |

Sometimes a move of God can scare people.

Re: Ok I got a question
A lot of people just don't want to tell the Pentecostals the way they really feel. I have had several people tell me years later that they were very uncomfortable in our church but just went along with the group because everyone acted like it was such a big deal and they wanted to make the congregation feel better.
Is it possible that this guy was just saying that because he felt sorry for the people of the church? |
Re: Ok I got a question
We had a guy once who got the Holy Ghost and then testified that he felt like he'd just smoked a whole bag of weed.:nutso

Re: Ok I got a question
He may have been caught up in the passion of the moment (hence the comment about removing his clothes!)
But once he went home, he took some time to think it over and then started to question whether what he had felt was really "real" or not. |
Re: Ok I got a question
No delta this was a newbee I could tell by the skoal can in his back pocket....LOL I just was just trying to think of why they would not come back if he had "such a good feeling"
|
Re: Ok I got a question
Maybe he didn't want to give up the Skoal can and knew that would be what he'd have to give up to feel like that again.

GREAT post! For me, the answer is simple.....emotionalism feels good but it does nothing to change a life. Colossians 2:23 talks about human efforts to be Godly, but then says, "But they have no effect when it comes to conquering a person's evil thoughts and desires." Of course, the other possibility is, they found out how they were gonna have to dress and all the things they couldn't do anymore that made no sense, and they hit the trail for a church that ALSO had God's power of grace and went there instead. |
