Early this a.m. a poster posted a farewell thread. Its now gone.

I have been following his posts and he has called AFFers backslidden bitter and swine, yet in his farewell he said UC's aren't welcome here.

What is this mindset that allows them the freedom to call people out, but run and tuck there tail when questions are asked of them?

Perhaps it is just because it IS just that-a "farewell" few last words?

Is there all that much wrong with that..I mean his own personal
"rants" :lol we all do that at least once or twice, after all.
That it is deleted could mean he felt remorseful AFTER posting it.
Haven't we all written something, then thought better about it, and 'tore it up'?

I'm just trying to see the flipside of possibilities, is all. ;)



btw, I missed that thread. Pls, do tell-whom was it? :D

They are just trying so hard to hold on to the old ways and get so fustrated cause everything is changing around them and people are acually reading the bible and just not listening to everything they say...

I am not talking about the deletion of the thread.

How can someone call everyone unlike them names and then get upset at the treatment they perceive they received.

He offended me but I did not get all huffy about it. How can they be so easily offended when they spout off like they do?

They are not mature enough in their faith to handle liberty so what makes you think they would act like an adult when it comes to anything else. They take their toys and run home when they don't like the way the game is being played.

Maybe.

The golden rule should be used. I can be mature and call you a jerk since I do not agree with something you said. In turn, I can not get mad if you then call me a jerk.

If I do not want to be called a jerk then I should not call others jerks, backslidden or whatever.

Wondering the same thing myself ...

I think "farewell" posts are funny ... in most cases it's a desperate attempt at fishing for someone to plead for the pos(t)er to stay on AFF and not leave.

If you're going to leave, leave ... especially if all you want to post is some loquacious rant on how terrible the forum is and how you're too holy to be associated with us here.

Some people are just too thin-skinned....

Many UC's (especially pastors) live in an atmosphere of mutual appreciation. Those who would dare question their conclusions are quickly met with hard and relentless pressure to turn from their "wicked ways" of disagreement.

If the perpetrator in question does not turn quickly then the discomfort is such that they leave.

It is at this point that several mentions are made of said perpetrators lack of love for truth & God and how everyone knew they would never make it anyway.

This leads to an environment where there is very little real and lasting opposition. Many UC's are not well adept at actually discussing topics as much as they are adept at lashing out at those who would dare disagree.

They find that online forums is an environment where the "you're going to hell" method is of little effect because we don't actually go to their church. Our families don't actually go to their church and cannot be used to put pressure on us. We are not in lack of "another place to go to church" when they turn their backs on us.

So... when the ridicule doesn't have the affect here that it does at home then the people on this forum must surely be heretics.

Having no further tools available they then leave.

It's pretty simple really.

Epley once said that he does not believe that a person who has a beard will miss heaven because of their beard... but he went on to say... But they can go to heaven from another church.

When the dissenters will not be sent away... they opt to leave themselves

I've been there and done that more times that I would care to admit.

I used to cower quickly.
Then I cowered quickly but still continued to wonder in my mind.
Then I begin to ask why.
Then I found myself out on the street and alienated from friends and family.

I lived in fear for a number of years but God has taught me how to learn for myself, know for myself and stand on my own.

I must admit that, although I have much to learn, I would never be where I am were it not for these brethren and the way I was treated.

They helped me find a road with God that is stable and free of fear.

For that... I give them honest and heartfelt thanks.

I hate to see this type thing happen here, but I guess as long as we are all human it will continue to happen.

Libs have been thin-skinned here too. Let's be real about that.

Often the momentum on forums here leans toward lib, maybe moderate. Rarely conservative. They feel the pressure.

Farewells. We all like them. It's called the "last word." Let's not over-analyze it.

We all do our best (or worst) work when we're mad, don't we? :) Anger doesn't really solve any problems, though, and if you hurt people with it, then you've crossed the line into sinful behavior.

In order to deliberately hurt someone, you usually have to first think to yourself that they are of no value, which is, in and of itself, an unchristian thought.

So....deletion is good--it means someone thought better of their actions. Maybe they retreated to their prayer closet to repent? :coffee2

Yessss....it's not so hard to control your actions and environment, but keeping your own thoughts in subjection to Christ? That's a whole new ballgame right there. I love the Epistles. I probably live there most of the time--I sometimes have to MAKE myself read other parts of the Bible. LOL!!!!

Consider though, that what you call "liberal" I would probably call "extremely conservative". And my liberalness may not register on most of the charts of AFF. But you're right...thin skin is a problem that doesn't understand the theological leanings of the owner of that skin.

And yes, count me in the number of people that would love to know who departed (I have a guess). He'll/she'll be back! I am!

Here's what I find amazing.

Guys like that have no problem calling someone a compromising, backslidden, liberal who doesn't love truth, and doesn't believe "THE MESSAGE." They push to get ideological opponents kicked off of forums, and out of the org.

But Heaven help the poor dolt that even suggests that calling someone a swine may be unChristlike. Cause guys like that may get offended.
