Old Sayings...

As I was mowing this morning, I think the heat must have been getting to me. lol I started remembering some old sayings my Mom is always saying. I thought I would share a few and see what old sayings you have heard as well.

1. She has more excuses that Carter has liver pills. ( I need to ask her what liver pills were for?) :)

2. We will be there if nothing doesn't rip or tear.

3. Don't leave so soon without your overcoat and blanket.

4. You cruising for a bruising? (when we were kids)

5. You itchin for a switchin? (kids again)

There are many more, but I will have to think of some of them.

And when we'd say we wish we had __________, she'd say "Spit in one hand and wish in the other and see which one gets filled the fastest."

well, spit wasn't really the word she used. But she wasn't a Christian either. LOL And it was close to spit (all but one letter)

Growing up, one of Mom's favorites whenever we wanted to go somewhere or do something and she said no; we always followed w/, but so and so is.

Of course that was always followed by, if so and so jumped off a bridge would you?

So.....one day I looked at her and said; it depends, is there water under the bridge? I PROMISE you I never said that again. LOL

One of my daycare kids came home from school the other day and said that when her teacher got surprised by someone that day, she hollered out, "Holy half goblins!!"

The kids thought that was the funnies thing.

~~~~
My mom had some funny sayings, but they all involved words we can't use on here :(
LOL... One time I said something and my mom said that it was disrespectful. To which I replied "Oh man... momma learned a new word".
Never... my friends... never will I say that again. :)
LOL. That's like the time I called my grandmother "Grandma Grunt with her teeth out front"
Not a good thing to say when you are within arm's reach, let me tell ya. Lesson learned and learned well.
Sinatra, if we tried to tell our mom that so-and-so was getting to go somewhere or do something, her answer to us was, "Well, I am not so-and-so's mother. I am YOUR mother. And you will do as I say, not as their mother says."
My mom used to say, "I'm so mad I can't even see straight!"
Made me really nervous because usually a whipping was to follow.....and she couldn't see straight!
