Federal judge in Ga. sanctions 'birther' attorney

COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - A federal judge in Georgia has fined a leader of the movement that claims President Barack Obama was born outside the U.S. and isn't eligible to be president.

U.S. District Judge Clay D. Land's scathing 43-page order says California lawyer and dentist Orly Taitz is attempting to misuse the federal courts to press "wild accusations."

Taitz is a leader of the so-called birther movement and sued on behalf of a soldier who claimed she shouldn't have to deploy to Iraq because Obama wasn't born in the U.S. Documents show he was born in Hawaii.

Land, appointed in 2001 by President George W. Bush, says he fined Taitz $20,000 "as a deterrent to prevent future misconduct and to protect the integrity of the court."

Taitz tells The Fulton County Daily Report the order is "an absolute outrage."

Censorship would be telling him he can't say it. He is being told DON'T file another suit in federal court. Right or wrong they have dismissed his case, he needs to move on to another venue if he wants to be heard.

No one is provided a forum in the courts for free speech, that's not the purpose of the court.

You are correct. The infamous Fred Phelps filed so many frivilous lawsuits that he was fined, disbarred, jailed and then finally banished from ever filing in that particular court.

He certainly seems to still enjoy his right to free speech still to this day.

And the "birthers" are wacky. There was a birth annoucement in the Honolulu newspaper for Obama. They ceertainly had no interests in promoting the guy one way or the other almost 50 years ago. He was born there. He's one of us.

... Just like Jane Fonda, Bill Ayers, Roger B. Taney, John Wayne Gacy and all the rest.

Regardless of the Courts, the Birthers, the Lawyers, etc. This could be all put away if President Obama would just release all personal information in an effort to show his transparency and to stop spending millions of dollars in Tax Payer Monies Supporting Lawyers and Court fees to keep suppressing his personal documents. Suppessing personal documents as President does paint a questionable picture.

The peopel quit runing the country when it got too big to really feel like we had any true power in the government. The country is so large now that most people really feel like they are powerless no matter what they do. Instead, our elected "monarchs" rule over us and too many of us just trust them to make good decisions. They don't!

We expect them to represent us, but they only represent themselves and their pet causes. And so many people are convinced that there is nothign we can do that they sit and do nothign but cast a vote every four years. Until the populace gets motivated and active, the Fed will rule over us as kings and queens.

The republic was set up so that no matter how big the country got it would still be an ideal government. According to John Adams "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." We have a duty to elect Godly people into office and when we do not this is exactly what the founding fathers said would happen. You can not separate the moral character from the man.

The federal government had limited power and states had most of the power. After the 10th amendment most of the following amendments enlarged federal government. We only pay attention to the presidential race. What about the mayor, the chairmen, the governor and so on... The local races are important and where real change will come from.

UNLESS this movement would lead to an impeachment (ideal), it is futile to
continue asking for absolute proof that has been quashed since waay long
before the election.

I have long been perplexed how he seemingly came out of 'nowhere' to
take the highest leadership position so quickly!! It is not wrong for anyone
to want to know the particulars of his life & career pertinent to his qualifications, though.,
THAT is what makes 'birthers' even myself, so wary.
In other words, "if there's nothing to hide, WHY NOT make it
all readily available for those whom elected him, to peruse?

The lights are now back on because a judge sees the frivolity and useless political grandstanding of these silly accusations.

Well probably, no. Reason being is all previous presidents were known by the community form the day they were born. They had school teachers and fellow students that could legitimately vouch for them. There was no question as to where they was born (Kenya?) or where they went to school (Indonesia?) as there parents were of sufficient American lineage to whereas there wss no question. It does seem very very possible Obama did recieve a foriegn student scholarship is why he refuse to show his college documents. As to wheather he is Hawiian born or not, I do not know, but all this refusal to show college documents gives many no reason but to have some lingering questions. If he did get those scholarships, he may have defrauded the donars if he is Hawiian born, If he is not Hawiian born, he has defrauded America and the constitution. I really wish he would just release it (as he is a public servant) and put it all behind us so we can move on in focusing on keeping our liberties and freedoms.

He has given it to the FEC, he has released it to the public, the State of Hawaii has confirmed it. Besides personally handing it to each individual person in the United States, he has done all to satisfy a reasonable mind.

The majority of the country, along with the State of Hawaii and the FEC have no questions about his American citizenship. He has proven it and it has been accepted. If a small minority will not take his state of Hawaii certified birth certificate as evidence, I'd say there is nothing they would accept. There are larger issues at play besides this smoke screen for the conservative party.

Your statement is false. Obama didn't release it to the public. He recirculated a photoshopped version from one of his sockpuppet sites.

It came also with a second revision. Both were were generated summer 2008This is why the left repeats some falsehoods so often they hope they will become accepted as facts.
