Secret Santa
After reading the thread about the shoe boxes of gifts being sent to children in other countries I felt I had to say something about OUR children.
I received a card from my Secret Pal this week which I truly appreciated. Her prayers mean more to me than any gift that could be bought. But I am very sadden to read where one of our posters here has children that she was not able to buy Christmas gifts for last year nor this year. If I'm not mistaken she has four children. I hope this doesn't sound too presumptions, but since it was one of the requirements for particpating in the Secret Pal here on AFF to send a Christmas gift, I am asking my Secret Pal to send my gift to the poster Nahkoe's children. Here is her post: I spent nothing last year, I'll spend nothing this year. lol And we do celebrate..it's just stinky being so poor sometimes. I am not in need of anything, and would rather see these children have a good Christmas. |

Re: Secret Santa
I agree with you - I do not know who my Secret Pal is either, but I would much prefer to have my gift sent to her children.

Re: Secret Santa
I received a message from Nakhoe and she is going to send me a list as soon as possible. She has two test she has to prepare for now that is requiring her attention.
I will let you know as soon as I have the information. Thanks to all that have responded on this thread or via PM. |
Re: Secret Santa
Here's the list. IF anyone wants to contribute and not duplicate the same things I don't mind being the point person to keep a list of items others are getting.
Joshua is 11. He wears a size Large or 12/14 shirt, size 16 pants and size 8 or 9 men's shoes. He says his favorite colors are light brown, grey, green and white. Hannah is 10. She wears a size 12 pants/jeans. She wears a medium or large shirt. And size 8 women's shoes. She has blue, green, pink, brown, black, turquoise for colors. She's kind of girly, but not frilly girly anymore. More of the dressy casual stuff. She likes mix and match a lot. Mikael is 8. He wears a size 8 pants, size 8 shirts too. He's wearing a size 3 shoes. His favorite color he says is blue. But red has been his favorite color for his whole life..so I dunno if he's just changing his mind or what? Justyn is 5. He wears a size 5 pants, and is growing fast. He's wearing a size 5 shirt as well. He's wearing a size 11 shoe. He says he likes any color, but then picked red as his most favoritest color. Ok, what sort of things to get. We're into arts and crafts. ANYTHING having to do with these things is a huge winner around here. Even just blank paper. Dinosaurs. Anything dinosaur. Books. We have very few right now, there's very little chance anyone will duplicate something we already have. I'm desperately trying to come up with something in the same reading level as Harry Potter, or just beyond it. The kids also do not have Bibles. Lego are very popular here too. We're always expanding our set. We love board games. Joshua listed Chess, Clue, Guess Who. Monopoly, Scrabble...we really have very few board games too. The younger ones were wanting some Psalty CDs or DVDs. We also found this guy the other day and definitely want some of his CDs sometime! http://www.songdrops.com/ We also have almost no worship music. I'd be very interested in having some. And just so everyone knows, we are not opposed to used items. It's the norm around here. The kids are fine with gently used books, movies, games, clothes etc. |
Re: Secret Santa
Are they in an area that a gift card be used? and what stores are local? Then I'll need an address to mail it to - directly to them would be fine.

Re: Secret Santa
I've got a WalMart gift card I'd like to send too. If she wants them all sent to one central location and then forwarded to her, I'm ok with that too. Just let me know where to send it.

Re: Secret Santa
E- I like the idea about sending gift card, if Nakhoe is able to get out and shop for her children. This would give her more toward the gifts by saving on shipping. Let us know how she wants to handle it.

"My preference is Amazon. I always use the super saver shipping that is free. It's easy for me to get the kids to tell me what they really want, I'm always window shopping there so they don't suspect anything. And I just have far more luck finding good deals online. I don't have a car, so getting out is a challenge. But, my roommate does have a car and LOVES shopping for the kids, so local gift cards are ok too. She'd have a blast shopping for their Christmas." |
Re: Secret Santa
will be sending gift card so Nakhoe can buy extras the children might not get in the mail (I'm thinking: fruit, candy, cookies, cake -----all those treats that we always associate with Christmas) however she wants to use it is ok by me - just happy to share in the children's Christmas!!!!!
