Re: Pastor Billy Joe Daughtery
So sad to hear this! Actually I heard that he had died yesterday, but it wasn't true. But I guess it happened early today. What a great Christian legacy he has left for his kids and wife! I have never heard anything bad about the Daugherty family - true consistent Christians.
Eddie just told me that Billy Joe never believed in debt, and everything they built was done totally debt free. That's a great testimony! They have built a LOT. |

Although I did not know him, I looked on the church website, immediately admired and respected him, and was heartbroken. I sorrow with his friends and family in his loss. |
Re: Pastor Billy Joe Daughtery
Wow, what a shocker, I did not know him, but admired him from a distance.

Re: Pastor Billy Joe Daughtery
The funeral will be next Monday...the church really tried to rally yesterday. But the shock is just heavy you know.
I talked with thier Son-in-law yesterday. The family is holding up but just shell-shocked. It was sudden! |

Re: Pastor Billy Joe Daughtery
I attended ORU for 3 years and went to Victory a lot. I always remember Billy Joe standing at the escalator shaking hands with everyone as they left the services. He would stand there for hours every Sunday, he was very touchable, even when the memborship grew into the 10,000's mark. On any average Sunday there might be 4-5 thousand there. There were many ministries that he set up and helped sponsor. He was the best church administrator, period. He worked with the ORU business department and developed a 1, 5, 10, 20, year plan for Victory; one of the men who helped write the plan was one of my business profs.
As you pray, don't forget to pray for Sharon, she must be lost without him. She was a devoted pastors wife, leading the praise and worship in the early days, and ever faithful. I was amazed at how they were able to carve out a place in the religious mecca of Tulsa and navigate through the controversy that always surrounded ORU and thrive is despite of it. |
