More Positive Economic News
but don't go giving the current administration any kudos for making the right decisions at a crucial time....
btw Bush did well too with his contribution to saving the economy from sinking into another depression. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091204/..._fi/us_economy It's not the best news, but it is a positive sign. |
Re: More Positive Economic News
Don't go out and buy that new Corvette yet. I received this notice in the mail a couple days ago.
Important Notice: Due to recent budget cuts, the stock market crash, and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off. We apologize for the inconvenience. Sincerely, The Government |
Re: More Positive Economic News
Whatever....
If more bad news had come out and I started a thread about it, the thread would have 10 pages of Obama-bashing. Maybe the jury is still out on the economy for most folks here or something. But it's looking up, an indication that the right decisions were made at the right time, though apparently by the wrong President and Administration. CONSERVATIVES FOR OBAMA 2012!!! |
Re: More Positive Economic News
Obama said he's happy because unemployment is at 10% right now.
WOW! |

Re: More Positive Economic News
Great news!!!!
Unemployment dropped from 10.2 to 10 % for the month! So with the massive, and I mean MASSIVE, amounts of seasonal and holiday help hiring that went on the rate dropped a whopping .2%. And people are praising the fascist in office why? |
Re: More Positive Economic News
We lost 12,000 MORE jobs and unemployment dropped from 10.2% to 10.0%.
I am not sure exactly how that works... except a government economist put the report together.... Then we get some details, there were about 100K temp jobs created due to the Christmas season and there were some additional perminant government jobs created (down here in the south we dont call that a good thing) but the private sector did not create any real jobs. good luck with all that.... |

Statistics are like bikinis. What they conceal is more important than what they reveal! :)

To the others, yes, statistics can be used to lie both ways... that was not the point I was making. The point was that no reason is being put into how he could say such a statement. Now if you want to talk the actual statistics that is something totally different. But quoting the president as saying he is happy with 10% unemployment is a far cry from what you are trying to imply: that he doesn't care if people are unemployed. I guess that's one way to try and win though, when you don't have any way out just go deeper into the hole you got yourself into and hope the other will chase you so far in that they make a mistake... Not really the most honest way to admit you were wrong though. |

He said the unemployment would not gover over 8% if they rushed and IMMEDIATEDLY gave him the huge stimulus package. He got it and unemployment is over 10%. (I would love to know, I think, what the real numbers are. I believe it is much higher than is being reported. Too many companies had to large of layoffs and none doing hugh hiring that I have seen reported. |

Conservatives for Obama? Funnnnnny!
Conservative what? Conservative communist?... Conservative Fascist? The very core values of socialism are based in their lack of belief in God! Atheism! It goes against the very basic beliefs of Christianity to be a socialist! Come on sir, |

Not true about socialism and atheism. There are Christians who are Socialists. These folks have existed for a long time. But this is besides the point. The point is, the government growing during this downturn is helping to stabilize the economy. This is one of the reasons to have a strong Federal government-- to help the states when the states and localities get weak. They have learned from the Great Depression and are doing EXACTLY what the Federal government DID NOT do in the beginining of the Great Depression, so that this downturn does not get as bad as a depression. |
