Re: Church Attendance...An Poll for AFF...
I am glad to be in church. If possible I like to be the one preaching or teaching.

I'm surprised you didn't leave it so you could see who did and didn't.

You can't attend church [as portrayed here] for it's not a material place or building. 1 Tim 3:14-15 These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: 15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. Heb 12:22-24 22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. Heb 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: Acts 17:24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; I'm fully aware of what Meschele's handsome husband is saying but I, for one, would like to see all of us, myself as well, begin to speak closer to what is actually written. It is either this or we will soon have our own "Mishna" of oral thought soon written down as "truth". Just an observation. Now continue on for the Forum has provided me much fodder for thought on this cold and wintery day. :) Raven |

AMEN RAVEN!!!!
Great post! We sometimes forget just exactly what "church" is. |
Re: Church Attendance...An Poll for AFF...
The poll seems to debunk whatever the hypothesis was, which would seem to be, a hunch that the "compromisers" on AFF are all backslidden couch potatoes who watch Joel Osteen every Sunday.

Re: Church Attendance...An Poll for AFF...
well, we don't attend church, we are the church
but, I assume you mean, how often do we gather with others in a congregation. We have services Sunday morning and Wednesday night. I ordinarily attend both of those meetings. We have outreach on Saturday mornings and I'm ordinarily a part of that also. I ordinarily attend a prayer meeting on Wednesday mornings that is made up of 12-25 individuals from various local churches and meets in an old historic Presbyterian church in Hamilton. That group has been meeting for over 40 years. I belong to FGBMFI and we have a breakfast meeting once a month, a prayer meeting once a month, and a dinner meeting once a month and I ordinarily attend all of these. That's about the extent of my "church going" |
Re: Church Attendance...An Poll for AFF...
If one is gathering with a group that does not teach the full gospel does YHWH consider that a Church?
1 Tim 3:14-15 These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: 15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. The Church is the pillar and ground of the truth. No matter how many times we might attend a place weekly if truth is not there have we been to Church? What if we met with people interactive online that walked in truth? Would we not be in Church?:heart |

Re: Church Attendance...An Poll for AFF...
Rephrase my answer: I go to the building where our church family gathers for worship - every time the doors are open.(unless sick or out of town). I was raised that way in another denomination - fell away during teen years, but when I came back to God, my worship attendance went back to the way I was brought up!!

Randy you're not listening so next I want to see if you are willing to read! :) Eph 2:19-22 19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. This is not about traditions some have acquired over the centuries but about looking at the original "edition", the Church, as described and revealed in the Word of God. Where is "Raven" at? I'm diligently searching out the path of Truth that we have wandered from. Raven |
Re: Church Attendance...An Poll for AFF...
There is no suggestion that the church is not flesh and blood.....but the coming together of those faith is also important... Jesus himself attended the Synagogue's of His day... He spoke in the Temple more than a few times as recorded....
Be careful Raven...the heart is oft times deceitful...I hope you and your wife well... I hope you find your way back to wherever you had wandered from.... |

The heart may be, and is, deceitful but the Paraclete, the Teacher, The Holy Ghost who will lead and guide you into all truth never is! I believe in the "assembling" of the body of Christ as the scripture states but that "assembling" can be in a living room, a little old wooden church a way out on the hill, or just you and Jesus riding down I-40 in a Dodge truck. My desire is to be a part of the Church envisioned by God since before the foundation of the world and to help any others I can who might have become misguided by "extra-biblical" teaching along the way. I'm not going "back" to where I wandered from but forward to where He wants me to be! Forward, Randall! Ever and always FORWARD! Raven 1 Cor 6:19 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? |
