Tiger Woods Update Thread

I'm surprised that no one on AFF has mentioned Tiger Woods. I thought it was none of my business but the news keeps avalanching in a negative direction. Tiger is up to 10 mistresses. Does this change your view of him. Are you less a fan of his because of these indescretions?

yesterday I read his wife moved out of his house and today I read a woman was hospitalized from his home. Could be his wife Elin or his mother in law. Where is all this going to end? will his sponsors dump him?

Are you kidding? I've been barking my butt off on the "More Jokes" thread. I'm heartbroken for him and I'm more heartbroken that the reaction is joking and not sorrow. Personally, I will still root for him just like I always have. He's been my favorite golfer since he won his first US Amateur in 1994. My prayer for him is that he finds a place of grace in Christ and that he and his family are able to recover from this awful mess.

I think fans of tiger woods should have an opinion on how he leads his personal life. It could diminish his standing in the eyes of many.

Like they say, its the ones you least expect. I do predict he will lose some sponsers but not all. His behavior is more wide spread than most would admit, he just got caught.

I will say this and leave it alone. Tiger has made more money making his life public than he has through golf, for him to suddenly claim privacy is a joke. When you market yourself you should know that privacy is no longer an option.

I do have an opinion, but if we start digging into the personal lives of actors, singers, and athletes, we'll have to eliminate 98% of the entertainment portion of our lives.

I disagree. Most actors lives are up for scrutiny by the tabloid press and it does affect my choice in entertainment. I personally would not watch a Linsey Lohan movie, Ellen Degeneres, Rosie Odonell or other gay entertainers. I used to be an Adam Lambert fan but after his performance at the awards show, I'm through with him.

Personal lives do matter in our choice of entertainment.

I feel sorry for people who have no privacy. It should be between him and his wife to work this out--not between him and the world.

Num 32:23 But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.

Old tigger is just finding out it is payback time for all his indescretions.

Hmmmm... 10 mistresses, that we know of,.....

Yep, Be sure your sins will find you out!

Feel sorry for him? Only as much sorrow as I would feel for any sinner wrapped up in sin. He is not nor ever has been my hero. My hero's come from the Bible.

Tiger needs to repent, get Baptized in Jesus name, and recieve the beautiful gift of the Holy Ghost.

He might even have to do as the rich young ruler, ....

Take, sell all that you have, give to the poor and come and follow Jesus.

Mat 19:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

I hope his wife takes the $300 million and kicks him to the curb.

If a man or woman has one affair, work it out. Seek help and try to keep the marriage together. A second affair ... tougher, but better to try and work out and keep the family together.

Ten separate affairs ... not a chance to save anything. The marriage is over because of Woods himself. He's completely (and publicly) humiliated, dishonored and disrespected her. He obviously views the vows he took as a complete joke.

But now he's sorry ... because he got caught. His sorrow and repentence is only there because of being caught. Had that not happened, it would be business as usual. The proof of this is the voicemail that was released where he called one of his *ahem* homewreckers (to be nice; another word or two comes to mind but will not be mentioned) to beg her to remove her name from her voicemail because his wife went thru his phone and got her number.

Had Woods truely been sorry, that would not have happened. It did, he isn't and the list will likely only get bigger.

His wife should have her and the kids checked for an STD, especially since one of the homewreckers is a porn star.

Disgusting. Woods may be a good golfer, but nothing else. I hope his sponsors change their minds and dump him. He's not a role model for a company or product.

Amazing how many opinions are out there.
Tiger has sinned. If he were a man in my church, I'd pray that everything worked itself out, that the situation would have room for healing. It's true that the cost of fame involves privacy, but there's a point of that being reasonable. He is still a human. Rich people and poor people are both human. As a Christian community, we should be expected to spearhead giving this family privacy. That doesn't mean we have to pick sides. The wife is hurt. The family is hurt and Tiger is swallowing guilt at a time when most families are decorating for Christmas. Let them be. The press will go on with this as much as they can. I hope he goes on Oprah and has a chat, because that will really let the wind out of some of the media's sails.

Examine your own home. Pray for Tiger's.

All of this points to the fact that CHARACTER means something. And the lack of it or the loss of it is tragic in anyone's life. Repercussions are inevitable. The more familiar and known a person is, the worse they are. Someone has said that when the mighty cedars of Lebanon fall, all the saplings get crushed underneath. I have never rejoiced in the fall of anyone. (joked, yes, rejoiced, no) However, if you don't want your "private" failures known, do not become a public person...because the truth of the matter is that when you become a public person, there is no such thing as privacy. Like it or not, that's the way it is! :D

We can say "that's the way it is" or we can say "that's the way it should be." The fact is, Americans are nosey and curious about their celebrities. Yes, this is part of the glitz and glamour life, but we still have a duty to behave as human beings, and realize that the non-celebrity children, the the human heart of his wife, as well as the non-golfer, Tiger Woods (the man) are just like you and I.

We can say abortion is "just the way it is" but you will find no agreement (hopefully) on AFF for abortion. It's not what the condition of things are, it's what things should be that push us forward as a society.

The cat is out of the bag. That's expected. But now it's time to let the Woods Family deal with this pain, without putting our judgemental, pointing fingers on the surface of their glass house.

Let's not kid ourselves why these women are coming forward - MONEY, Celeb Interviews, etc. They were never the victims here.

LOL That was a genuine question, not a comment. I'm wondering if all of the women being discussed have been from relationships since his marriage.

As to the victimization, I don't believe any of them are victims...and yes, there will be a money-grab now...it's the American way.

You're a lawyer. You can make some Gloria Allred money by representing one of the women. It's less sensational, but money is money :)

The victim here is Woods' wife and children. Woods and the women should be subject to the same public shame and embarassment as his wife and children have and will continue to endure.

The $300 million divorce settlement should help with the moving on, but the emotional and psychological baggage will remain for a long time.

The day this was leaked, Tiger experienced shamed.

I pray things can be reconciled, though realizing how nearly impossible that might be.

Either way, I'm not into the "shame game," as if it's my individual responsibility to make sure justice is done to Tiger. Just doesn't sound merciful to me. He will be dealing with the consequences of his actions for years to come. Time for the peanut gallery to fade out black.

Public shame to Woods is equivalent to public shame for his wife and children. Again, the man's behavior is reprehensible, but when your family is under the public microscope, it makes it nearly impossible to set right.

It was like the Britney Spear's fiasco a couple of years ago--already a pitiful mess, and the media made it 10x worse.
