Alright....HELP!!!
I am in the process of putting up my tree..I was not totally satisfied with it last year...It is white. I want to put all red decorations on it...my youngest son thinks I need some other colors on it...Granny wants me to put green with red on it...Am I wierd or is all red ok...I have some gold ornaments too, but I think all red will be cool....
Alright....opinion away... I am waiting cause we have about 9 inches of snow on the ground and I am making chili, chicken and noodle, and potato soup for our "caroling" tonight, which the caroling has been cancelled cause the HIGH today is supposed to be 10 and the windchill is -10....no way hosbey!!! Patiently (acutally not so patiently) waiting... |
Re: Alright....HELP!!!
I like the red and gold idea, personally, but it kind of depends on the ornaments.
|
Re: Alright....HELP!!!
Try the all red, take a photo to show us, then we can comment......lol
Waiting for Renda and PO to chime in first. :D |
Re: Alright....HELP!!!
I like the all red idea too, BTW. Just really like most of the gold decorations I've ever seen. :thumbsup

Re: Alright....HELP!!!
It sounds great to me! However, I'm one of those who just love to let the womenfolk make things look real nice and then sit back and enjoy them! :D

Re: Alright....HELP!!!
I think you could do all red. It's a white tree so a nice contrast. All red not as great on a green tree.
|
Re: Alright....HELP!!!
Use the red and gold. Put all the red on first if you have more red, then place the gold throughout to fill in.
Then, if you have some fancy picks of red, greenery or something like that place those on the ends of the branches! |
Re: Alright....HELP!!!
If you can find this magazine still available, Southern Accents Christmas Decorating Guide, look on page 26. It shows a green tree with all red decorations, even the star. It is gorgeous!!!! It has red drop ornaments, red balls, red beaded garland. I think it would look gorgeous on a white tree.
I think you were having trouble last year because it clashed with your living room furniture. I would go all one color or pick up ornaments that have the same colors that are accented in your living room furniture. Looking forward to the photos and, hopefully, we will be rewarded with an annual shot of you on the floor worshiping your tree! :D |
Re: Alright....HELP!!!
I think all red would be beautiful.

Just put me a present under the tree...ha...love you, my friend.

Re: Alright....HELP!!!
You should see my parents' tree-they are still satisfying their kids and grandkids today! Candy canes for the boys to eat, my sister's and my favorite ornaments as kids, no breakables near the ground for the grandkids... and almost all homemade over a 30 year span. It isn't picture perfect, but it is perfect.

Re: Alright....HELP!!!
Personally, I would go all red... I am not a fan of Gold, it is way too heavy and formal for me...even at Christmas.
I tell ya what color I am so drawn to lately and it is the funky green and red.. not Christmas Green, but almost lime. One of my trees is done in that. I have two trees done in all red, and I have a blue/silver tree too... |

:hijacked
This is a smidge off topic. I know there are many anti Christmas tree Apostolics. Last year one of the church families offered their home for an adults only Christmas party. My husband and I went even though it was aimed at the 50 and under crowd...:smack There were five or six trees; all with a different theme. I can't recall all of them; angels, snowmen, nativity ornaments etc. All very nice. I was amused since there are UPC groups totally against trees. And they had a TV/movie room in the basement:aaa. |
Re: Alright....HELP!!!
Actually, right now I'm ready to chunk my kids out the back door into the snow...they are home because of the snow...and they are driving me nuts....It's amazing how much we can love them, I mean, I'd die for my boys right now...then in the next thought, I would love to open the door and throw them out...like right now..they are fighting cause the oldest is in the youngest ones room and won't leave him alone...he likes to play and doesn't know when to quit, the other one quits really soon.
Ok. I hijacked my own thread...sorry had to run a rabbit..actually two of them...hehehe |

I would but then I'd have to listen to them whinning about how cold it is...plus Granny is here, and that wouldn't go over too good....:thumbsup
I beat them when she's not here (at least that's what she thinks...) |

I have my 10 year old in the living room sitting on the loveseat watching a cartoon on DVD since I can't send him outside because he's been so sick for the last couple of weeks. My 16 year old daughter is out hanging icicle lights so that they have a break from each other. It's cold out, but no snow-- and she's bundled up enough I hope. There are just days they can't stand looking at each other since they are homeschooled together all the time.... fortunately, today isn't one of those days. :D |

In one of my Christmas magazines, it has the kitchen decked out in the lime green and pink. It was so cute. White cabinets set it off. |

My husband is going to want to kill me if I go buy more snowmen stuff though. I already have snowmen figurines everywhere that I've collected over the last 20 years. I just don't have snowmen ornaments.... YET. I think I need to go to Hobby Lobby to find some this weekend when I go to Sam's Club. Maybe I'd better not take him with me, and take mom or Kara with me to shop instead. |

When I was a kid we would get an ornament in our Christmas Stocking every year. (actually we still get one every year, LOL) When we got old enough, my Stepmom gave us each a box of all our ornaments we had gotten over the years. It just wouldn't seem like Christmas without all my ornaments on the tree! |

I like the heavy gold that Foreverblessed doesn't like. That has always been Christmas for me - red or burgundy, hunter green, gold - sometimes silver. Love it!!! I like this tree. http://pencechristmastreefarm.com/cg...nds-tree-2.jpg |

Re: Alright....HELP!!!
Pat and I met in 1957. Our first Christmas together was 1957 and I gave her an engagement ring. We were married in February 1958 and our first Christmas tree was Christmas 1958. It was about 3 feet tall and looked like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. We still have a few ornaments from that first tree on our tree this year. Over the years we've had real trees and artificial ones. We've had several sets of lights from the little ones that burned your fingers and the whole string went out when a single bulb burnt out to the ones now that came installed on the tree that we bought about 3-4 years ago. Our tree has ornaments that we have accumulated for all those years. Some are home made by our children who are now adults and have children of their own. Some were gifts from others over the years. We have just one tree and I don't know what the "theme" would be. I guess you could call it "accumulated junk" or "memories" or "pack rat" or "historical" or whatever.

Listen, run by Hobby Lobby and pick up the tulle on a spool. It works great and it's only about $3.00 per spool. I would buy two, put them together for the thickness and thread away! You can also buy the cheapest plastic ball ornaments and cover them in glitter to spice them up for fillers. Buy the better ones after they are on clearance. You could also spray paint Magnolia leaves for fillers. That's always really nice. Okay, gotta run. My spelling is getting really bad. That's means I've been on-line wayyyyy tooo long! LOL! |
Re: Alright....HELP!!!
What dont you just use some coon tails? Surely there are a couple dozen laying around?
