Pure Law
I must say I can say with increasing ease... I hate law.
I don't use that word about many things but I do, indeed, hate law. Law kills. Law destroys. Law has no mercy. Law never brings life. Law only brings death. I have been dealing with the school around here and all they know is that crazy handbook. Well behaved kids who do well on their grades spend days and days in ISS over a 99.2% success rate of being on time to their classes. 3 tardies over 360 classes. (I know those of you involved in a previous thread on this subject are aware of all of this) But I am ranting because we have been dealing with law again and all law does is bring out anger. To tell you the truth... law brings out rebellion. It doesn't cure it. I am about as easy to get along with as anyone you will ever meet. Making me adngry is a hard task indeed but nothing brings it out of me like blind, relentless, justice-less law. I Hate Law. Law without mercy is among the most destructive powers on this earth. It kills peoples spirits. It kills initiative. It kills drive. It kills hope. It kills a desire to change. It kills everything good in a human being. I Hate Law. In the past when I have read in the word where it said "For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh" I always saw where the pure law is always manipulated by man. If a man lives by the spirit then the law is not necessary because living by the spirit (of the law even) will cause one to fulfill the law but the law itself only drives people to circumvent the law. But, today, I see another thing as well. Those who are in power and love law will always, given time, use that law to brow beat people. They will use that law to steal. They will use that law to kill. They will use that law to destroy. They will use that law to fulfill the desire of their father... the devil. I Hate Law And I despise strongly those who use it in a manner that is not in keeping with the spirit and intent of that law. I love God's law.... don't get me wrong. But I hate when law is ripped from the nature of the God who put it in our lives and used a pole to beat people with. That might be at church. That might be at school. That might be by a cop. That might be by a parent. To all those who operate as unfeeling, unmerciful and hateful wielders of the law against your fellow man... May God reward you according to your works. |
Re: Pure Law
So, should law be outlawed? :heeheehee

Law knows no mercy these days. Law is about making sure you get yours... law isn't about bringing change. Law isn't about making a difference in your life. Law is about appeasing the (largely Christian) masses who revel in nothing more than see you get yours. Today law is written beyond the ability of mercy to intervene Today the spirit of the law is missing because law has no spirit but these... hatred, malice, anger... recognize those? Law outside the spirit does humanity much harm. |

Re: Pure Law
It isn't the law that is evil. It is the men that administer the law. The men that we have had a say in putting in power and for so many years we haven't cared. Now that their rule has become unbearable we want a say. You can change it, we still have that power. Find out when your board elections are, who is up for reelection and get them out. Find a good man and help get him in place and support him once he is there. Complaining will get you no where, but action will get you where you want to go.

Psalm 119:165 Great peace have they that love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Romans 7:7 KJV What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. Why would we hate something good? It is actually sin in our flesh that we should hate. If we had no sin, law would be easy and wonderful to deal with. But what the Law could not do because of sin in our flesh, God did! And what law was intended to accomplish, grace accomplished. Romans 8:3-4 KJV For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: (4) That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. And I think that is what the author of this thread meant when he said, "I love God's law.... don't get me wrong. But I hate when law is ripped from the nature of the God who put it in our lives and used a pole to beat people with." Amen! |
Re: Pure Law
I love God's law,but I hate it men when teach commandments that are birthed in their hearts as God's law making the word of God as none effect.

Re: Pure Law
I actually LIKE the law. That is when it protects ME from someone who would break it and administered by those who interpret it via its original intent.

I finally got the opportunity to turn it on them last year. My son had a particularly rough week. The suspended him even though he had not done anything, according to the rule book, that they could suspend him over. I told him to put his uniform on and we headed to school the next morning. The principal took the position that, "I can do whatever I want I am the principal." The color drained from his face when I told him that was the dumbest thing I had ever heard and that unless he could identify exactly why he was suspending my son in the student handbook, which I tossed to him at that point, then he could expect my son to be in classes that day. He said three reprimands in a week equals a suspension. Indeed it does, however he only received two. He has on the wrong color of socks and had his coat on when class began, and then got upset when he was given demerits for it. automatic reprimand. He received another one from another teacher over attitude issues. The principal said well his attitude deserves three reprimands and it very well may have but the rule states he has to have 3 in one week. I involved the board in the decision and he was back in classes by 10:00 am. The thing that drives me nuts is the way they choose to harp on minor infractions and then punish the kids when they get upset with the stupidity. I have tried to explain to them that we have in the courts a thing called equity. They don't get it. |
Re: Pure Law
Law, like the OT Law, falls short in that it offers no remedy for wrongdoing. It only provides consequences. Speed limit laws do nothing to stop a person from speeding- it only attempts to control ones compulsion to speed by offering a fine for speeding. The problem is still there. (I KNOW this doesn't apply to any of you good law abiding Apostolic folks...)
The countless laws that have been put into place does nothing to cure, say, a drug addict. It merely punishes him for using drugs. Law is designd to control behavior not change behavior. We've seen the evolution of laws to deal with the terrible problem of child abuse. These laws are essential to the safety of our children. Yet, because "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jer 17:9", child abusers continue to pop on our radar screens. The law punishes them, and rightly so, but cannot stop them from becoming abusers in the first place. What is needed is a change of heart. And only Jesus can change the heart. Is law bad? No, but it is flawed. 1Ti 1:8 But we know that the law [is] good, if a man use it lawfully; IF is a mighty big word. A drunk driver that works at the local paper mill goes to jail. One who works for the US Senate is... well, is nothing. In one case, the law is used lawfully. In the other case, not so much. 1Ti 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 1Ti 1:10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; |
