Tea Corner

What sort of tea are you drinking now?

Well I finally tried lapsung shouchong or whatever it's called... didn't care for it. The "smoke" aroma is overbearing. If it was more subtle it would not be bad. In fact if you drink this tea while holding your nose it's not a bad flavor

I was wondering if maybe the batch I got was just to strong. Really for me I would not mind the smokey flavor/aroma if it was more subtle

Re: Tea Corner

Ok, whats your favorite tea place and do you buy online?

We do have tea places here, but Id have to drive 30 min or so just to get there. Ive never been there but a church brother has. I usually go to Coffee Bean and Tea leaf or Peets Coffee, both of which sell loose leaf or loose leave in a bag. However they don't have a lot of varieties

If the smokiness is too strong, you may like the Czar Nicholas Russian Caravan Tea from englishteastore.com It has lapsang souchong, but it isn't as strong.

From their web page: Czar Nicholas Russian Caravan Tea http://www.englishteastore.com/1mt-cnrc.html

During the Czar’s time tea was the most important drink after vodka in Russia. This tea has a long history, and the Lapsang Souchong in the blend gives the hint of mystery. The tea has a delicate flavor with a lively sprightly slightly toasty character. Perfect after a dinner party.

I'll agree with Timmy on this one. I do prefer coffee.

But do enjoy tea occasionally, constant comment is one.
I also enjoy some of the herbal teas. My favorite is Bigelow Plantation Mint.

Another good brand is The Republic of Tea.

My son in law (born in India) does the same.Loves his coffee, but tea is for the afternoon.
My adorable grandaughter tells her mom she wants tea. She receives diluted herbal tea with milk. And she loves it:heart

I heard, yesterday, that it's best to buy Tequila sweetened with raw agave. The brands sweetened with sugar (corn syrup) is what gives you the hangover! Who knew?!!!! :toofunny

You can always tell when I have more than three tabs open - my spelling starts going downhill. I guess I can't multi-task that well. :toofunny

I was reading an old Christmas Southern Living magazine the other day. One article featured a Mexican family. He was instructing on how to drink Tequila. You don't use shot glasses. You use brandy sniffers and drink it like a fine wine. No wonder the men are so......... :toofunny

I've used the dark raw agave in my hot tea before. I didn't like it as much as I do organic honey. Maybe the light agave would be better in it? I have read that the dark adds a little flavor that the light agave doesn't?

I think it's a preference choice. I also prefer the organic raw honey but, I keep the raw agave on hand for my husband so that he won't use regular syrup. He bucked me on all of this until he lost one pants size. Now he's listening to me. :D

I think the Organic Blue light Agave is not raw. They don't carry the raw in my local grocery store. I have to go the healthfood store. Wholefoods carries a larger container which, of course, is cheaper in the long run.

What is the difference between light, amber, and dark agave nectar?

Agave nectars are sold in light, amber, dark, and raw varieties. Light agave nectar has a mild, almost neutral flavor, and is therefore sometimes used in delicate tasting foods and drinks. Amber agave nectar has a medium-intensity caramel flavor, and is therefore used in foods and drinks with stronger flavors. Dark agave nectar has stronger caramel notes, and imparts a distinct flavor to dishes, such as some desserts, poultry, meat, and seafood dishes. Both amber and dark agave nectar are sometimes used "straight out of the bottle" as a topping for pancakes and waffles. Raw agave nectar also has a mild, neutral taste. It is produced at temperatures below 118 degrees F to protect the natural enzymes, so this variety is an appropriate sweetener for raw foodlists.
This is why dehydrated foods are so much more healthy. They cook at a lower temperature, preserving the enzymes.
