White Elephant Ideas

What is the craziest, funniest white elephant gift that you have ever seen or received?

This party is for teens, but all ideas are welcome...

For those of you who don't know what a white elephant gift is, it is something that is from around the house, it costs no money, but imagination is always a plus!

Re: White Elephant Ideas

Millionaire Seeds. :D

Make them yourself by painting green dollar signs on dry white (great northern) beans.

Throw them in a ziploc bag with this written on a label and attached to the bag.

Millionaire Seeds
Money Tree Starter Kit

Plant seeds with dollar sign up, in fertile soil.
If you plant the seed wrong, the tree will grow upside down.

For best results, shout "I WANT TO BE A MILLIONAIRE" while watering.

No fabulous ideas but this is how you unload the gift from 5 yrs ago hidden in the basement.
A vase, picture frame, still unwrapped DVD you've never viewed, that itchy scarf a relative sent you----------not that I have any of these tucked away--------:ursofunny

Re-gifting at its finest! :nah

What about this one? (FOUND ONLINE)
My brother (the joker in the family), took a close up 8X10 picture of his face and then he autographed it. It was framed and was a big hit. The next year, that picture came back on a t-shirt!

Ideas found online:

Set of batteries with a tag reading "toy not included."

Home-Made Electric Dishwasher and Dryer: Duct tape an extension cord to a dish cloth and hand towel.

Hillbilly Briefcase: Sew the legs closed on a large pair of men’s underwear. Cut two "handles" out of cardboard and glue them inside the band of the underwear.

Snowman Poop: Put some mini marshmallows in a zip-lock baggy with the following note, "This party is fun, but here's the scoop. I was a cheap gift giver so all you get is snowman's poop!" (Could also use chocolate covered peanuts or raisins and rename it "Reindeer Poop". )

A Box of chocolates, with one or two pieces missing-- and include a photo inside the box-- of the gift giver putting a piece of the candy in their mouth. :D

Another idea found online.... Gotta love google...

Jar of beans with a decorative top and a tag saying, "Hillbilly bubble bath."

This must be why I have this little bag of beans. I saved them because it is so funny. Now I remember! It was a White Elephant gift! :toofunny

Place White Lima beans in a small zip lock bag. Attach these instructions:

Magic Weight Loss Beans

Instructions:

1. Remove beans from bag.

2. Throw them on the floor.

3. Bend down and pick up each bean.

4. Repeat hourly as needed.

I had some co-workers find a half eaten box of candy in the parking lot of my office about 6 months ago and wrapped it and put a note on it telling me how much they appreciate all I do blah blah blah. Well it has been in my freezer since then and will be my white elephant gift this year :).

Little off the subject, but this thread reminded me of it.

Last year my DIL couldn't find a box to wrap something, so she used a Lipton's Onion Soup Mix box. I kept the box to put something for her in it this year - - see how long we can keep the box in the family!

Little fun things like that add to the family memories!

That is so cute?

Did you ever hear the fruitcake story that Sherri and Eddie tell?

What you said kind of reminds me of that-a little.

Yes!

I think it's fun. This year I'm doing the pickle ornament for the first time for my grown-up kids - - thought that would bring a little excitement Chrismtas morning!

Oh you guys are fun! I need to hear things like this- I would never think of cute stuff like this on my own.

Btw- do you have a picture of the pickle ornament? Sounds hilarious!

I bought it at Target!

You hide it on Christmas morning in the tree and the first one to find it gets a "special" gift! It's suppose to be a German tradition.

I like that- really unique idea!

What gift would they win? I am curious- would it be a treat or trinket?

I haven't decided yet.

My kids all love those white chocolate covered Oreos that they make only around Christmas, so it might be a box of those.

I read somewhere that the one that finds the pickle gets to be the first to open their presents, so that might work for some.

That is a fun idea! I'm going to do a door prize. I think I might do some riddles and the first that guesses, gets the prize!

Renda! I remember you saying this last year - that you were going to save that Onion Soup Box and see how long it would last. LOL!

My mother in law has been doing this for a long time. I had never heard of it until I got with my husband. Whoever finds it gets $20.

Years ago, I read about some friends who exchanged the same fruitcake every year, back and forth, wrapped very creatively. Once, it was encased in a block of concrete! :lol

You hide it on the tree. My mother in law sticks it towards the inside of the tree instead of on the end of the branches, so it blends in very nicely and it is quite hard to find!
