Not Going To Church Tonight...

Am I the only heathen on AFF tonight?

I'll be there Sunday, hopefully. I missed last night because I was ill-- so ill I left work early, went home and went to sleep-- for about 14 hours.

I'm resting tonight too.

So if you're not going to church, what will you be doing? Where will you be at Midnight?

I am not going to church, and at midnight I hope to be asleep. But who knows I might still be here on AFF. Happy New Year, Jermyn. I hope God blesses you richly, and you get all that your heart desires.

I bowed out. I've got bronchitis as an excuse. But really, ADD is my main problem with a 6 or 7 hour church service. Besides, this is the first time I've had the house to myself in a while.

We're not going to church tonight either. Because our church is not having church tonight and we didn't go looking for another one that does. Staying home is good. I like it.

I hope my heart desires the right person and the right stuff.

Not going. My church doesn't have church, didn't bother looking for another one in the area that does. Besides, I have to get up at 4:30 for work...

Not going. I don't have a key to the church so I would have to kick the door in to be at church tonight.

There is a church up the road that I really like to visit and they are having a watch night service but I don't think I am going to go to that one. Great people though.

Seems this would be the perfect opportunity.

Why not go check it out?

Not hosting a watch night service this year. Had a couple of invitations to come to one, but bowed out this year. My wife and I have said we should be in the bed by 12, we haven't done that in 32 years of marriage!

If still up and awake, we will be praying together. If not, we will pray before going to bed.

I haven't been awake at the new year in, at least, 20 years. No watch night services for me....ever!! :lol It's just the ticking of the clock. It happens 60 times a minute, 4 million times a day. Who cares. Bah humbug. I'm sleepy! :toofunny

My wife and I have not gone out of the house on New Years Eve for several years. It is referred to as "Amateur Drunks Night" and we're probably better off not being on the road any where near those celebrating.

Our church does not have a New Years Eve service but was having a social night.

We usually watch the ball drop on Times Square then kiss each other and wish each other a Happy New Year. This year we have two grandkids spending the night, one just turned 8 and the other will be 4 in January. It's been a pretty quiet night.

Best wishes and God's blessing in 2010 to all who are still up and reading this.

I got off work early, so the girls and I went to see a movie... then went to eat mexican and back to the theater to see "Blind side" I really liked it.

Last year our church had a party and prayed at midnight... but this year we are having a dinner on Sunday afternoon.

We went to church tonight and had a wonderful time during the Lord's Supper. Very thankful I went.

Oh I've already checked it out. They are a great group of people. For 4 months out of the year the church I go to doesn't have a Sunday Night Service and we go there then etc.

But their night is centered a lot around food, fun, fellowship... and, while I know that would be a great time to go, I kinda feel like I would be crashing their party. I know... it's crazy.

But I'll be back over there soon. They are a great group of people with a great pastor. :)

Service was wonderful!! Beautiful worship, the choir sang 3 songs, a visiting elder from Kentucky preached...he was very good. Following his message, Bishop Baker read from the Scriptures and we received Communion.

Service started at 7 and we were home before 10...drove through freezing rain on the way down, and safely dodged a couple of drivers who were '3 sheets to the wind' on the way home.

Was almost asleep when my son's watch beeped in the new year. Stayed with him at the hospital last night.

BTW, I have always hated watch night services!

Your hatred of them could never match my hatred! My hate is greater than your hate and my dad can beat up your dad. My bicycle is faster than yours, too! As a kid, they would always be these "Scare the bleep out of you" services that threatened everyone with the rapture. "Brothers and sisters" (in a quivering voice), 1973 would be the last year. This could be your last chance at heaven." I hated that. I had enough problems with nightmares without going to church and finding the inspiration for even more nightmares.

I'm just not into the new years thing anyway. The clock ticks, big deal. Every moment is special, not just the moment when the calendar changes.

Never underestimate the value of a normal day, right Timmy? :)
