Need My Affers again...

It is once again that time when I must put AFF on the back burner and return to my job and college work.

I have so enjoyed the bantering and laughter, and I will be popping in from time to time, but I won't really be able to jump in until spring break and then in the summer, I am here for three whole months (I know, exciting huh???).

I will have to learn about NoW's latest stunt from my husband, or how Tina shut Timmy down again, at the dinner table, and via text message I will find out that Scott accidentally posted the WRONG video to the site... alas I will miss you, but it will not be for long...

BUT before I go, I would like some input- I have an assignment for a class that requires me to choose a movie, book or TV show (I will post the actual assignment here). I don't watch a lot of movies, or TV

-and who has time for pleasure reading in college?-

so I figured I would give you a chance to weigh in.

PLEASE DO NOT DO THE ASSIGNMENT FOR ME- I would just like for you to suggest a book, movie, TV show that that would fit the criteria.

Choose a book, film, TV show, etc. in which an individual was told the truth about a difficult relational issue (for example, a husband admits an adulterous affair to his wife). What was the outcome and given what you have learned about interpersonal communication, do you think the person took the best approach in communicating the issue? Why or why not? Be sure to support your answer with appropriate academic and biblical research.

Tina shut Timmy down? :blink Musta missed that! :toofunny

Have a great New Year, and a great ... uh... college!

Can't think fo a book etc. for you, off the top of my head. Must be something, other than a chick flick (the mother lode for relational issues!). :hmmm

These ideas are great! And NoW knows I am only kidding, and since Timmy likes to get in trouble, he will probably keep pushing the envelope.

Fireproof is a great choice, I think it is a bit too simple, possibly.

I have never been able to actually sit down and watch Star Wars, so while I know that Vader is Luke's faaahhhhtha, I would have to watch all six to really understand it...

Thanks for the vid, Scott-

I will still be a regular until Monday, though and I will still pop in now and then.

I have thought about Mitch Albom's "The Five People You Meet In Heaven". Still looking though...

Nah. Ep 4, 5, and 6 would be enough. ;)

I think there are many stories from scripture that would qualify (Jacob and Esau, Saul and David, etc), but they have to be in a separate book or movie

It could be simple....unless it was produced and direted by Apostolics, then it might have may story lines and no ending.

....and the list of credits at the end would go on forever. J/K

Oh, that's a great idea! Get a representative from each of the OA orgs together, to agree on the script and... uh.... Oh, never mind.

I've not seen any of the Star Wars stuff. I take that back...I went with my sons to one recently but I slept through everything after the credits. I don't like Science-Fiction. I believe it's a sin. I prefer realistic stuff...things that could easily happen in real life, like all the Die-Hard stuff.

That outta do it. :thumbsup :D

You could use any of the soap operas on tv today for a basis for your assignment. They're always in complicated personal relationships.

I was finishing the thread and then I was going to recommend that one :)

Is the husband killing the boyfriend overreacting enough?

It's got nudity in it, if I remember correctly - so the OP will be duly informed.

Foolish, you are... :D. The later Star Wars films are bad though. Try the first one. OR -- the new Star Trek is very good.

How about A History of Violence. There are some tough reveals in that one... But, if you're offended afterward, then forget my recommendation. :D

Star Wars Episode (whatever) The Empire Strikes Back
Darth Vader delivers the difficult truth to young Luke Skywalker that Vader is his father. Since Luke's mother died when he was young there is no Oedipal complex at work, but a more Titian Zeus versus Chronos kind of thing. Or not, but the light sabers were pretty cool back in the day.

Brokeback Mountain
Never saw this one and I don't wanna. The "truth" seems to have been pretty weird though.

Sponge Bob Square Pants
The truth is, Sponge Bob is a simple kitchen sponge made of synthetic cellulose fibers and not really a "sea creature" at all.

I'd be afraid to know what my husband would do if I was actually involved in an affair at that level! Scares me thinking of it. LOL!

I really don't recall ever seeing this movie. I just know what it's about. I may have seen a trailer or something. Diane Lane always seems to play a pretty pathetic character, at least, in the shows I know she is in. I saw her accepting an award some time back and she just seemed so pitiful. I felt sorry for her.

Well, we don't want simple, remember. LOL!

I think Pretty Woman has some pretty intense pain revealed in both characters. I wouldn't normally recommend this movie either. I wanted to see how she portrayed a girl wanting out of the life of a prostitute, so I watched it. I cried at the end and felt so bad for the women that are trapped in that lifestyle.

No Thanks...

Well I asked my students to write a business letter to Mr. Krabs asking for a job as an assignment. Let me tell you, according to these high schooler's business letters, there is nothing simple about the sponge or his coworkers!!!- They even corrected the address! I had put Bikini Bottom, Florida- and they corrected me and said that Bikini Bottom was in the Pacific Ocean!! My own kiddos weren't allowed to watch it, so I had no clue!
