Why AFF?
I enjoy the lively banter and the fellowship of like minded and opposite minded individual. I come and post to discuss my views and I read to understand my views and those of others. I learn some and laugh some.
Why do you post here? What do you get out of it? What purpose does AFF serve in your life? |

Re: Why AFF?
As different as we are, I believe many of us have the same roots, and shared many of the same experiences. I appreciate the different views as long as it's constructive.

Re: Why AFF?
It is fun.
I learn things. Sometimes I have to walk away for a while. But I return because it's fun and I learn things. :) |

Well for one thing it should give a person second thoughts about just randomly throwing out things that they believe. Of course, I think all that I have read, everyone seems to think they have scripture to back up their doctrine. :foottap Some of the posters must not have scripture???? But, I remember them quoting scripture. And then the opposing view also had scripture??? :boxing Ah, that's one of the benefits of AFF. We can all give OUR OWN interpretation of scripture. :nah |

But there are those who do search for more truth as God reveals it to them and they are blessed with greater understanding. Even those who will not learn anything more themselves serve to facilitate the further understanding of others. |

Re: Why AFF?
Well, right now I am at an airport in Brazil...I love posting but hate when people think they have the ONLY truth or some special revelvation that makes them more heavenly...I veiw myself as a pilgrim and I love the company of other pilgrims on our journey.
I don't like to decide who is going to heaven or who is saved.... I LOVE this forum and many of it's members. |
Re: Why AFF?
"Iron sharpens iron." I learn a lot from AFF, enjoy browsing threads, and enjoy the challenge of discussing and debating important topics with other people.
One thing I love about AFF is that everyone (or nearly everyone) here claims to start with the authority of Scripture, whereas on secular forums, presuppositions are all over the place leading to a very unprofitable discussion time. I hardly ever participate in political debates anymore on secular forums because it all comes down to someone's presuppositions....no matter how much evidence is presented, they won't change their minds. One thing I've learned is that EVERYONE has presuppositions; and when two people with different starting points look at the same evidence, they see it two different ways. |

But, just a funny thought now... you said you love MANY ........... many does not maybe mean all or are there some you don't love? I hope I'm in the catagory of many. lol :ursofunny :ursofunny |

Re: Why AFF?
AFF is a mixed bag: scholars, intelligent inquisitors, God-loving people, scoffers and mockers, jokesters, posers, lurkers, witty conversationists, historians, simplicity, overly-weighted complexity, braggarts, bigmouths, blowhards, gentle communicators, etc... They are ALL on here.
So why am I on here? I enjoy finding out those who more closely match people I prefer to interact with on a variety of theological topics as a forum to test ideas, poking holes at theories and concepts -- basically iron to iron with other brothers. Sometimes this is fun and insightful, sometimes frustration and confrontational, and other times it's confounding as we sort through it all together. |
Re: Why AFF?
I enjoy hearing (and sharing) varied opinions that differ from the prefabricated canned answers offered by traditional religion. ;)

Re: Why AFF?
Why AFF? Because of the friendships I have forged here.
I love my AFF Family! :heart |

I love the fact that most everyone is willing to honestly look at the facts presented, are willing to genuinely consider the facts presented, and are willing to question their own beliefs when necessary.

I come here quite often but usually for seconds or minutes at a time, thus my short posting style. I'm usually doing a ton of other things at the same time I have a browser tab open to AFF, and other technology related web sites.

Re: Why AFF?
Just about the time I think I have all the answers, someone offers a thought that adds to my understanding. We can all learn something if we are not convinced we know it all, or that our understanding supersedes all else.
I am just not so arrogant to believe, any longer, that I have it all figured out!! |

If you get 10 new friendships, do you have to tithe one of them to God? :heeheehee
