It's Coming, Folks

There seems to be a new buzzword in churchdom these days...modesty and *gasp* HOLINESS

Seems the new gold mine for Christianity is to "stand out" and be separated from the world. Not in a JUDGEMENTAL or CONDEMNING fashion, but good old fashioned conviction...(as said by the fellow on the radio preaching broadcast...NOT apostolic or pentecostal)

Now, would this be an ever slurring of the lines between apostolic beliefs and protestant beliefs so that the only differences between the movements is the belief in the infilling of the Holy Spirit by unknown tongues and Jesus' name baptism?

Is this the "new" way to "control" people by telling them they should wear modest clothing?? People are sheep, you know, and, just love to be told what to do, in small doses...will people clamour for this type of teaching??

Have you any thoughts???

Here we go again . . . :coffee2

Makes good sense to me, I have no problem with it. :coffee2

It's not controlling people by telling them they should wear modest clothing. It's common sense but not everyone has common sense. :hypercoffee

My pastors tell us to wear modest clothing. They just don't have a laundry list of what their definition of it is and then force everyone to conform to that.

Dressing modestly will show your holiness, not wearing specific articles of clothing.

He was admonishing the people to get involved with asking each other and approaching each other on the appropriatness of dress.....

HE EVEN SAID THAT BARE MIDRIFFS CAN CAUSE A BROTHER TO GO A LIL CRAZY IN HIS MIND....

I mean, what's UP with this???

Dressing modestly doesn't show your holiness. You can dress modestly and be incredibly unholy inside.

Exactly! Things have a way of balancing out.

I didn't say that dressing modestly makes one holy, but you certainly won't show holiness by NOT dressing modestly, and that was my point.

Have you noticed how those pants that rest on the hips bones tend to make skin hang over the top unless you are skin and bones. I have seen girls who are a nice size have a roll above the top. Those are the style, and that’s what’s most important to the youth, but they are not flattering. Lord please allow that style to lose it’s appeal very soon.

Here's the deal if one is walking in The Holy Ghost ,and is seeking The Lord in relationship then their outward behavior will reflect this.

not having read the entire thread,

and in answer to the first post.

Preaching Holiness is not controlling when a trinitarian preaches it.

it is only controling when Apostolics preach Holiness.

Actually, Apostolics are protestants.

Hmmm, interesting situation. IF you are correct, and IF this movement actually takes hold and fires through the charasmatic world, I wonder what the church will do to be separate and to come out from amongst the mainstream?

Maybe I will send them a hint, ya know...just to get the ball rolling....

"Tell your people that even though they understand the grace...thing, you can get folks to do anything if you put their salvation at risk." :D
