We are getting sleet/freezing rain now - - hopefully changing to snow by noon.

They are predicting 3-6 inches of snow which is HUGE for the south.

Just praying it changes to snow quickly to keep the damage of freezing rain down to a minimum.

Really sleeting here and I can see a layer on ice on everything outside. I haven't tried to go anywhere, but I have an appointment this afternoon that I really need to keep. Not sure what it will be like by 2 pm though.

Are you at home or at work? We were supposed to go to Memphis tonight and spend the night. I have a bed being delivered tomorrow in Cordova.

Sleeting like crazy here. Sidewalk & driveway are beginning to ice over.

Hopefully we will get mostly snow-- but where I am is right on the dividing line of the snow/ice based on what they are showing on Channel 3. I'm just praying that we end up with more snow than ice.

wet and cold. about 39 and its been raining since mid afternoon yesterday.

I'm at home - I had taken a vacation day because Tarah was coming down, but not now since we'll probably end up going to St. Louis this weekend.

You might need to reschedule the bed delivery.

It was freezing rain, sleet and now it's a mixture of sleet and snow. The quicker it turns to snow the better off we'll be and hopefully, not lose power from ice.

Snowing hard now, on top of the ice. They are saying it's supposed to switch back to ice at some point this afternoon. I desperately need to keep my salon appointment, but that looks like a negative!

I just got back from a 45 minute walk along the Hennipen Canal.

Nice here in Az. Hope it stays nice for our deputation work....there are 5 of us traveling hotels get expensive...not conting the food and gasoline...so we need to move on every night possible...we are in a church convention right now and I have a ladies conference to do in Ca but other than that we are pretty well booked...of course you cannot get somewhere everynight ad there are always those that cancel as things come up but God has been very good to us through His people.

Woke up to pouring down rain. It has stopped and the temps of 62 is suppose to drop to 32 tonight.

Weather here in the south can change in a hurry.

That may be the system that passed through here yesterday. Dumped just a dusting of snow. These weather patterns seem to pick up all their moisture further East leaving us bone dry.

Today it is clear.

Had a nice lightning storm last night. One strike was simultaneous flash/boom, so real close. That one, oddly, didn't seem to bother anything, but later, we lost power for an hour or two. The rain filled our pond, overnight. Usually takes at least a week of steady rain, but the ground is still saturated from previous rains, I guess.

About 1/2" of ice or a little less, topped off with about 5" of snow so far. Still snowing, but I think it's supposed to stop in a little while.

MissBratt, that looks like an OHIO storm!

It's bitter cold here today. 11 degrees right now. This morning it was 2 degrees when the kids had to walk to school. But no snow coming down (it's too cold for that!). We've only got a small amount on the ground from before. (maybe an inch)

42 right now, rain. Going to 31 tonight with a high tomorrow of 32, and low tomorrow night of 22. Rain, freezing rain, and sleet tomorrow.

I'd rather wade through waist deep snows than have to contend with those Southern and Midwest ice storms. That's not even habitable as far as I'm concerned.

In fact, I love to wade through waist deep snow. But those ice storms... ugh! You folks have far more mettle than I.

We've had one of the worst winters I've ever seen. And I've usually lived in areas with snow and cold so that's saying something!
There are residential streets that are just now more than one lane. The main streets were plowed but are now covered in pot holes and try as I might you just can't avoid all of them.

Yesterday I discovered front driver side tire had a small tumor, (properly called a bulge in the sidewall) . In the daylight today I assessed the damage and it needs to be replaced. There's a small tear also. I credit this with going through an unexpected pot hole too fast :statbike:

Yep - it pretty well shuts the place down! I'm just thankful my power has stayed on.....the lights dimmed a few times today.

Mmmmmm.... In this area the storms are known as "the monsoons". People who grew up here take them very seriously. People who have moved from the Midwest just take a few extra seconds to adjust their golf swing.

My husband called earlier and said it was snowing heavily in Grand Prairie. I hope it stays there. He said he hopes it doesn't follow him home.......:lol

Our streets look worse today than yesterday - and temps not above freezing til Monday! may be another "snow day" for schools in the mid-south!

Just so thankful for a bright sunshine in Indiana... we have had almost two straight weeks of heavy cloud cover... I don't mind the cold even. lol

Thankful I am not dealing with snow or ice.... just cold.

No question about it, Renda. That looks like an OHIO ice storm! We usually get one or two of those every winter. You're right they are beautiful, but very dangerous.

When I lived in Owosso, Michigan, they got ALOT of snow - deep, deep snows. I would call my work and tell the boss I'd be there as soon as I could get my car out of the parking lot, which sometimes took a half a day.

One day we got a huge ice storm like this one you've got. Well, I was used to those. So I went to work. And called my boss from my desk and asked where HE was! He laughed hysterically.Said, "I can't believe you can't make it in when we have a little snow (18" is NOT a little snow to me!), but you can slide in here in spite of an ice storm. Only someone from Ohio.............."

Our place looks pretty much the same as Renda's. We got about six inches of snow on top of ice. I've been stranded in the house for two days now, and I'm going nuts! LOL We are going to try to get out in a few minutes to get to Walgreen's and the bank and to see what the church parking lot looks like, but I imagine it's really bad.
