Re: All Time Best Song Lines
Failing, falling, lost in forever
Will I find a way to keep it together? Am I strong enough to last through the weather in the hurricane of my life? Can it be a conscious decision? Are the rightful ways to alter my vision? Am I speeding towards another collision in the early breeze of my life? ... ... Shaking, burning up with the fever In the realm of pain, I am the deceiver I will lie to myself, so I can believe her As she dissembles my life I cannot dispel the illusion All my hopes and dreams are drowned by confusion Can I find a way to make a solution that will reconfigure my life? ------- Disturbed - Pain Redefined |

The Twist
by The Swirling Eddies (Terry Scott Taylor) hang on, believe there's nothing up my sleeve i've got no magic tricks to save the day put down the gun you're not helping anyone and i'm not about to run or back away don't walk the fence then come to my defense i don't need fair weather kinds of friends around so watch and pray as a traitor's kiss betrays and rest your feet of clay on shaky ground and look me in the face, at least what's left of it tell me you still love me just a little bit or nail me down, break the skin hard enough to do me in but don't leave me hanging dying and dangling twisting in the wind here, touch my side let doubt be crucified nailed with your wounded pride to love's grim altar here, taste my flesh my bloody humanness i am no phantom guest no skinless martyr so taste and feel there's nothing to conceal you always knew the deal was sacrifice stand up, be strong when all you've got is gone i left the light turned on in paradise and when the walls cave in and the curtain's torn asunder you'll know we're near the end you'll hear me in the thunder and when the sun grows dim this will be your sign and wonder that soon we'll meet again just like we did last summer |

So you need a new car?
Let your fingers take a walk Through the business guide For the "born again" flock You'll be keeping all your money In the kingdom now And you'll only drink milk From a Christian cow Don't you go casting your bread To keep the heathen well-fed Line Christian pockets instead Avoid temptation Guilty by association Turn the radio on To a down-home drawl Hear a brylcream prophet With a message for y'all "Well I have found a new utensil In the devil's toolbox And the heads are gonna roll If Jesus rocks" "It's a worldly design! God's music should be divine! Try buying records like mine Avoid temptation" Guilty by association So you say it's of the devil And we've got no choice 'Cause you heard a revelation From the "still small voice?" If the Bible doesn't back it Then it seems quite clear Perhaps it was the devil Who whispered in your ear It's a Telethon Tuesday For "The Gospel Club" "Send your money in now Or they're gonna pull the plug!" Just remember this fact When they plead and beg When the chicken squawks loudest Gonna lay a big egg You could be smelling a crook You should be checking The Book But you'd rather listen thank look The implication Guilty by association |

If I was driven
Driven ahead by some noble ideal Who took the wheel? If I was given Given a glimpse of some glorious road When was it sold? So caught up in the chase I keep forgetting my place Just as I am I am stiff-necked and proud Jesus is for losers Why do I still play to the crowd? Just as I am Pass the compass, please Jesus is for losers I'm off about a hundred degrees If I was groping Groping around for some ladder to fame I am ashamed If I was hoping Hoping respect would make a sturdy footstool I am a fool Bone-weary every climb Blindsided every time Just as I am I am needy and dry Jesus is for losers The self-made need not apply Just as I am In a desert crawl Lord, I'm so thirsty Take me to the waterfall And if you're certain Certain your life is some cosmic mistake Why do you shake? And if you're certain Certain that faith is some know-nothing mask Why do you still ask? They don't grade here on the curve We both know what we deserve Just as you are Just a wretch like me Jesus is for losers Grace from the blood of a tree Just as we are At a total loss Jesus is for losers Broken at the foot of the cross Just as I am Pass the compass, please Jesus is for losers I'm off about a hundred degrees Just as I am In a desert crawl Lord, I'm so thirsty Take me to the waterfall |

A man walks down the street,
It's a street in a strange world. Maybe it's the Third World. Maybe it's his first time around. He doesn't speak the language, He holds no currency. He is a foreign man, He is surrounded by the sound, sound .... Cattle in the marketplace. Scatterlings and orphanages. He looks around, around ..... He sees angels in the architecture, Spinning in infinity, He says, Amen! and Hallelujah! Paul Simon You can call me Al |

Parting Hand
Tune: William Walker, 1835 Words: John Blain, 1818 Meter: Long Meter Double (8,8,8,8,8,8,8,8) This song I always enjoyed. We would sing it at the end of singing groups growing up. However, when my friend, a nine year old girl, died of a brain tumor (I was 11) the song took on new meaning to me. A couple days before she died she told her parents it was time to divide her toys between her siblings because she was now ready to go and be with Jesus. We sang this song ac Capella at her funeral. My Christian friends, in bonds of love, Whose hearts in sweetest union join, Your friendship’s like a drawing band, Yet we must take the parting hand. Your company’s sweet, your union dear, Your words delightful to my ear; Yet when I see that we must part You draw like cords around my heart. How sweet the hours have passed away Since we have met to sing and pray; How loath we are to leave the place Where Jesus shows His smiling face. Oh could I stay with friends so kind, How would it cheer my drooping mind! But duty makes me understand That we must take the parting hand. And since it is God’s holy will, We must be parted for a while, In sweet submission, all as one, We’ll say, our Father’s will be done. My youthful friends, in Christian ties, Who seek for mansions in the skies, Fight on, we’ll gain that happy shore, Where parting will be known no more. How oft I’ve seen your flowing tears, And heard you tell your hopes and fears! Your hearts with love were seen to flame, Which makes me hope we’ll meet again. Ye mourning souls, lift up your eyes To glorious mansions in the skies; Oh trust His grace — in Canaan’s land We’ll no more take the parting hand. And now, my friends, both old and young, I hope in Christ you’ll still go on; And if on earth we meet no more, Oh may we meet on Canaan’s shore. I hope you’ll all remember me If on earth no more I see; An int’rest in your prayers I crave, That we meet beyond the grave. Oh glorious day! Oh blessed hope! My soul leaps forward at the thought When, on that happy, happy land, We’ll no more take the parting hand. But with our blessed holy Lord We’ll shout and sing with one accord, And there we’ll all with Jesus dwell, So, loving Christians, fare you well. |

"There's bound to come some trouble to your life
But that ain't nothing to be afraid of There's bound to come some trouble to your life But that ain't no reason to fear I know there's bound to come some trouble to your life But reach out to Jesus hold on tight He's been there before and He knows what it's like You'll find He's there There's bound to come some tears up in your eyes That ain't nothing to be ashamed of I know there's bound to come some tears up in your eyes That ain't no reason to fear I know there's bound to come some tears up in your eyes Reach out to Jesus hold on tight He's been there before and He knows what it's like You'll find He's there Now People say maybe things will get better People say maybe it won't be long And people say maybe you'll wake up tomorrow And it'll all be gone Well I only know that maybes just ain't enough When you need something to hold on There's only one thing that's clear I know there's bound to come some trouble to your life But that ain't nothing to be afraid of I know there's bound to come some tears up in your eyes That ain't no reason to fear I know there's bound to come some trouble to your life Reach out to Jesus hold on tight He's been there before and He knows what it's like You'll find He's there" -Rich Mullins |

"Well sometimes my life just don't make sense at all When the mountains look so big And my faith just seems so small So hold me Jesus 'cause I'm shaking like a leaf You have been King of my glory Won't You be my Prince of Peace And I wake up in the night and feel the dark It's so hot inside my soul I swear there must be blisters on my heart So hold me Jesus 'cause I'm shaking like a leaf You have been King of my glory Won't You be my Prince of Peace Surrender don't come natural to me I'd rather fight You for something I don't really want Than to take what You give that I need And I've beat my head against so many walls Now I'm falling down I'm falling on my knees And this Salvation Army band is playing this hymn And Your grace rings out so deep It makes my resistance seem so thin I'm singing hold me Jesus 'cause I'm shaking like a leaf You have been King of my glory Won't You be my Prince of Peace You have been King of my glory Won't You be my Prince of Peace " -Rich Mullins |

Re: All Time Best Song Lines
For those days we felt like a mistake,
Those times when love’s what you hate, Somehow, We keep marching on. ... There’s so many wars we fought, There’s so many things we’re not, But with what we have, I promise you that, We’re marching on. For all of the plans we’ve made, There isn’t a flag I’d wave, Don’t care if we bend, I’d sink us to swim, We’re marching on. For those doubts that swirl all around us, For those lives that tear at the seams, We know, We’re not what we’ve seen, For this dance we’ll move with each other. There ain’t no other step than one foot, Right in front of the other. We’ll have the days we break, And we’ll have the scars to prove it, We’ll have the bombs that we saved, But we’ll have the heart not to lose it. For all of the times we’ve stopped, For all of the things I’m not. We put one foot in front of the other, We move like we ain’t got no other, We go when we go, We’re marching on. Just like a star across my sky Just like an angel off the page You have appeared to my life Feel like I'll never be the same Just like a song in my heart Just like oil on my hands Oh, I do love you Still I wonder why it is I don't argue like this With anyone but you We do it all the time Blowing out my mind You've got this look I can't describe You make me feel like I'm alive When everything else is a fade Without a doubt you're on my side Heaven has been away too long Can't find the words to write this song Oh, your love Still I wonder why it is I don't argue like this With anyone but you We do it all the time Blowing out my mind I have come to understand The way it is, it's not a secret anymore 'Cause we've been through that before From tonight I know that you're the only one I've been confused and in the dark, now I understand I wonder why it is I don't argue like this With anyone but you I wonder why it is I won't let my guard down For anyone but you We do it all the time Blowing out my mind Just like a star across my sky Just like an angel off the page You have appeared to my life Feel like I'll never be the same Just like a song in my heart Just like oil on my hands By Corinne Bailey Rae |

He said I'll love you 'til I die She told him you'll forget in time As the years went slowly by She still preyed upon his mind He kept her picture on his wall Went half crazy now and then He still loved her through it all Hoping she'd come back again Kept some letters by his bed Dated 1962 He had underlined in red Every single I love you I went to see him just today Oh but I didn't see no tears All dressed up to go away First time I'd seen him smile in years He stopped loving her today They placed a wreath upon his door And soon they'll carry him away He stopped loving her today By George Jones |
