Installation of Bro. David Bernard

I see the Inauguration service is scheduled for March 5th. Does anyone know if it will be videocast over the internet? I would like to watch it.

I don't know about Brother Bernard's - but Bishop Haney's was broadcast live on the internet....

General Superintendent, Presiding Bishop, Chairman or Pope
(whatever term you prefer)
but the UPC political/religious organization uses the General Superintendent term from what I understand.

I don't know if inauguration is the proper term ... as Bernard has been presiding over the UPCI since January ... and did so during the General Board winter meetings that just concluded ...

It is more like a formal installation service... or coronation ceremony .... :bigbaby

I read the posts twice.

Didn't see any DKB bashing.

That's what I was questioning.

There goes the tea all over my MacBook Pro screen!!!!! LOL

When I was originally ordained in the UPC, Huss Shearer was the Dist. Supt. I distinctly remember, and still have it, being given a towel with my name embroidered on it as a symbol of my calling. I've never forgotten that and it is what I preach and teach about leadership.

It really disturbs me when I see HUGE chairs on platforms, HUGE pictures of the pastor in the church and the church being Bro. so and so's church and it becoming a family business etc. Not saying that DKB, sees it that way, but I do see a disturbing trend in UPC and like churches where the pastor is anything but a servant and is more like a King than anything else. Certainly not all, and I'm not trying to paint with a broad brush, but I've seen far too much it where the people are expected to serve the pastor instead of the other way around, :D

This thread is about DKB's Inauguration. It isn't about the UPCI or opinions about DKB or pictures in foyers or chairs on platforms. Puleeze!

PO - I don't take it as a "bash DKB" thread as much as several formers making "bash UPC" posts. :foottap

I think Blubayou started this thread with a sincere question and desire to watch the service. I watched Bishop Haney's installation service and it was very moving.

Daniel - yes, installation would be the correct term.

That's what I should have said, although, regardless of the original thread title, it is spiraling into a UPCI bashing thread, like they always do. Just sayin'. LOL!

Well, you did mention you weren't broadbrushing. I felt I should direct your attention to another area that you could also broadbrush, because you were. You paint a picture of the UPCI as the only people engaging in chairs on the platform, pictures in the foyer, etc. It's just not so. Just sayin' :D

Well there were references to a large political/religious organization; there was mention of the word pope; there was also mention of kissing a ring. Those references could be taken as bashing. Also there was a mention of some church pomp and circumstance or protocol being compared to TBN. Now, I'm not sure if that is UPC bashing or TBN bashing. I guess that depends on whether you are UPC or TBN. To some of us there isn't that much difference.

Actually, this is EXACTLY what I said: "but I do see a disturbing trend in UPC and like churches where the pastor is anything but a servant and is more like a King than anything else."

The UPC doesn't have a corner on the market of this type activity, but I wonder how many posters have seen it. I've been to literally 100's of UPC churches over the years and have seen it MANY times! I've also seen it in AOG, COGIC, PAW church as well, which was my point. :D

Not one negative comment about DKB

One BIG positive comment about UPC

Well, MOW, we all have our opinions about everything. The bottom line is that you are not any more perfect in everything you do anymore than I am or the UPCI. So, maybe we should all go do something a little more important for the Kingdom of God.
