It looks like this fire was taken care of pretty quickly based on these pics.

It was, Randy. We got out quickly. The response from our volunteer fire dept. was so fast. We live 3 miles out of town, they were here in less than 8 minutes. When we call 911 it goes to the county, then they transfer us to the city.

I will admit I panicked for about 2 minutes after I got outside and was talking to the 911 operator. My DIL took the phone and my son went up to the highway to meet them, our driveway was very difficult for them but they made it. One of the fire trucks was brand new, they did a great job of containing the fire. We have a lot of water damage. UGH!!!

But we are so grateful to still have a house, and that we are all safe.

I posted after you posted the first few pics and didn't see all the rest and didn't know how gutted everything was. But it still looks like the basic frame is largely undamaged which means after a little new drywall, paint, carpeting and/or wood/tile, you will have a new house!

I agree with Randy. Hopefully since the frame is undamaged it won't be long or expensive to repair. Hope you had good insurance

I am sorry this happened Cindy, but am thankful it wasn't worse!

I pray that you get a blessing in the Reno!

We are so grateful really. This is an old house and it could have been much worse. Some supplies already bought, sheet rock and stuff like that. Thankfully we have hard working kids and in laws with lots of experience.

The house is paid for, but no insurance. Just paid our last vehicle off a few days ago. The Lord is good to us, so we can't complain. Really the only loss for me is the OLD carpet......which was free. It use to be in a church...:)

Don't use sheet rock made in China they are having problems with it.

Cindy, I'm so sorry that you had to go thru this experience, but I'm also glad that it wasn't any worse than it was. And that you all are OK!!!! THAT's the important part!

Walt has been a volunteer fireman for almost 40 years now. I've seen lots and lots of fire damage. I know it's awful, but really, I've seen LOTS worse :) That's a good thing! God was good.

Also, thank you for giving so much credit to your local fire dept. So often, people forget to thank them. They're quick to find fault, but not as quick to show gratitude. You always have such a great attitude! I think that's why I like you so much, my cheery friend.

Praying for you tonight. Asking God to calm your nerves and give you a good night's rest and then to supply ALL of your needs as you get into this remodeling project. He has the riches to do it.

They are tearing out part of the floor in the living room as I type. Loud, and noisy. And my kitchen is a MESS......lol But they worked hard through the night as I slept. Remodeling and redecorating. How cool is that? We found a little car that my next to the oldest son left in the wall as we were building this house. A little red Mustang Matchbox car. Over 30 years old. He just had to have that car, and cried when he lost it.....lol

Thanks, Margie. I slept very well even through all the noise they were making in the living room. Hammering, drilling, whatever else they were doing. And they are back at it today. But it's raining now. So they are doing things a little slower........:)

LOL check the value of that car-it may pay for part of the remodel!

You'll love those-hardwood is the best thing about my house! No vacuums, just a good broom every so often-and so much lest dust!

Re: Fire Damage Photos

The sheet rock is up on the walls, the sub floor and floor stuff is down. The tape and bedding (whatever that is) guy is suppose to be here tomorrow afternoon. Still a lot to do in the living room. Then we can start on the kitchen. Whew I am so tired of seeing soot, plaster, and carpet that has all kinds of stuff tracked on it. But thankful for all we have.

Your family works fast! That's wonderful. A few more days and you won't have to see all that anymore, Cindy. Sounds like they are doing an amazing job. *hugs*

When I think of all the churches that were burned down in East Texas trough arson, I am so thankful God our house was spared a lot of damage. They have caught two suspects, just young men. I think it was 10 churches total in 6 weeks.

It was Friday night, we got out quickly and with small damage as from the fire. The water damage, ceiling plaster, etc........BIG mess. But we are blessed.

Cindy, so glad you're OK. I'm an insurance agent and fires can be soooo life changing. One of my insured's just lost their entire home to a really bad fire.

We are building them a new home, but you can't replace many of the personal things (photos, antiques, family treasures, pets). They were lucky and were at work when the fire started.

For all out there, the number 1 place fires start; the kitchen. Make sure you have a good, working fire extinguisher in the kitchen and garage.

God Bless!

....paid off our house a few weeks ago. We got a check back from the bank for almost 1000 bucks.

Seems they had misfugured some of automatic withdrawals.

Nice surprise ;-)

Damage in the kitchen is not as minimal as first thought. But still not as bad as it could have been.

My husband went to town to buy paint and stuff, came home with a 50" screen TV for himself!!!!

He deserves it though.:heart

Thanks for the information. We will be getting smoke detectors for sure. Which we did not have.
