~Mini AFF Reunion Sunday~
We were blessed to host the Alvear's missionaries to Brazil in our church last night and in our home for fellowship afterwards. Thad even poked his head in for about a 1/2 hour.
The Alvear blessed our church, shared the story of what God is doing through their ministry in Brazil. I have been wanting to connect with them for about 5 or so years, finally they was able to make it to the West Coast. Bro Raul testified and sang beautifully, Sis. Janice spoke with much conviction from the heart about Brazil and the needs there. It helped our church connect with a Missions Thrust in new way. There were tears, prophetic words and a generous offering that evem surprised me in the way people opened their hearts and wallets. Will post some pictures later on. They came over to the house afterwards for fellowship and fun. My youngest son David fell in love with their granddaughter and was leading her around by the hand, being a real gentleman. I think the Alvear's are the salt of the earth, some of the most precious people alive today. I felt a strong prophetic word that through their ministry over 1 million people will be influenced and hear about Jesus. http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...wnload_2-1.jpg http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...download-9.jpg http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...download_8.jpg |

Great pics! I know that had to be a treasured meeting. |
Re: ~Mini AFF Reunion Sunday~
It was so awesome to be with the Alvears it was like a dream come true!
When she did her presentation on Brazil, before it was all said and done there was not a dry eye in the place. She told the most amazing stories, about sharing the gospel with people who have never heard it before. She shared pictures of the churches they built, it gave Keith a burden to give enough so they could another church. Bro Alvear is just how I imagined him to be! He is an excellent singer and I love hearing him talk about how him and Sister Alvear met. I hope some day we can go to Brazil. |
Re: ~Mini AFF Reunion Sunday~
A bunch of my favorite people all together in one place! Wish I could have been there.
I laughed at the picture of Thad eating his healthy little bowl of soup when there was a bit pie right in front of him. LOL! The Alvears are AWESOME! Glad you had a good service and fun time afterwards. And yes, Elizabeth, you should definitely go to Brazil. I had a great time down there! |

Re: ~Mini AFF Reunion Sunday~
Thank you for such kind words but in reality we were the ones that were so blessed. Wow, we even got to be with Pastor Keith's father and mother and we found out we know so many of the same people...Thad came over to see us and we had such a lovely after church snack at their house.
Pastor Keith gave Brother Alvear a guitar. We drove away amazed at the love the McCain’s have with the people they work among. I don't know how much has been said but they reach for people that many would not car to reach for...I will let them share what they feel to on that subject. I will only say once before I was invited to speak at a mission that was full of street people in Indiana. Let me tell you a little about the street people I ministered to in Indiana. My son Andre was with me. That day I had a migraine headache and was ever so sick but I pushed with all my strength. I expected no money from those people I only went to bless them. I ate with them in their soup kitchen, then we gathered and I showed slides of Brazil and at that time I had my slides from the leper colony. Those street people that had no home, nothing, many were what others considered trash, wine-os and whatever...Their shoes were mismatched, clothes were mission hand me downs but all of a sudden one of them got up with a little bad and some change brought it to me...before it was over I had over a hundred dollars worth of change and much of it was pennies! Sometime during the process God healed my aching head and I prayed with those men and women... Someway I had met the pastor and he knew I was coming through and he had told me any time to stop by if I wanted to that they always had food and would find me a bed... And what I say here will shock most of you...they were not Jesus Name to my knowledge. The pastor was not there so I do not really know...I was there in passing but I say this to our shame...Where are we ONENESS folks? Are we to busy building our kingdoms that we have forgotten as a whole (not all) the lost HURTING world...I am not one of those that are against nice buildings. In fact we have a beautiful headquarters church in Brazil and many other nice buildings…however we must never forget the real purpose of HIS coming and real purpose of the church. He came for His lost earthly family. He was not impressed by the temple of his day…if fact he talked about a day stone would not be upon stone…so we must see these earthly things as just a blessing to do the REAL work of God. It was to these people Jesus preached to...the sinner...the crude fishermen, the Samaritan women, the tax collector ( a turn coat) and even had time for the children… Well, my goodness I have high jacked the thread. Anyway the service last night brought back memories of a little mission I spoke at in passing…I was invited to eat and sleep for free…my greatest blessing was to be received by some that would be considered earth’s outcasts…I feel in love with them! Now back to last night…I witnessed the tremendous burden Keith and Elizabeth have…I was so blessed by their kindness. |

It was an honor and blessing to meet you and your family Sis Alvear~! You're funny Sherri! I stopped and got gas on the way to their house and bought a bunch of candy and ate it on the way to their house thus no pie lol Liz, I wouldn't go to Brazil if I were you - It's very dangerous and lawless. The Alvears said so themselves. |
