Maybe somebody can do a song like the "Pants on the ground" song. "Lookin' like a fool when you're pushed on da ground" |

I will say, however, that that video made him look like a ninja laying the smack down. |
Re: Benny Hinn immortalized in parody.
And people wonder why BH and Todd Bentley give Christianity a bad rap!

I wish I had the power BH is supposed to have. I'd go into every hospital and empty them, of course it wouldn't be as profitable to the pocketbook. Some of the movements of the people in the video were almost vulgar.

Re: Benny Hinn immortalized in parody.
The only glory I see is to the flesh and to Benny.
Not much different than doing "the wave" at a football stadium. Crowd hysteria. ...and Twisp, I am not too worried about a she bear coming after me, not anymore than Paul was when he spoke out about Jannes and Jambre. |
Re: Benny Hinn immortalized in parody.
No need for parody. Ever see his show? :heeheehee

Re: Benny Hinn immortalized in parody.
I used to watch his show, once in a while, just for amusement. When I saw a little girl lifted to her feet from a wheel chair, very wobbly but she had a big smile (wouldn't you, if you were just healed from a debilitating condition?), it wasn't very funny. Just when it was obvious she was about to collapse to the floor, BH gave her one of those slaps to the forehead and down she went.
Sick. |

If you believe that the Bible is not literal, and that the particular story in question is merely a cautionary tale, then it would still be sending the same message: God does not take lightly men of God being made fun of. You would need to take into account that the author of the story does believe that the Lord will send a real punishment to you, be it she-bears or ninjas or a comet, and he based his myth on real circumstances or actual, lessor, events. |

Re: Benny Hinn immortalized in parody.
The relevance of that thread: surely, if God punishes people for things like making fun of preachers, surely He wouldn't mind if, say, a preacher prays and asks Him to do so (asks Him to take vengeance)? Goes along with 1 John 5:14-15. He'll do anything you ask, if He wants to do it ("according to his will").

I do believe that God can and will punish people that make fun of Him or His messengers, at His discretion. Be it on earth or in heaven, He has the ability to and may very well do it. In regards to 1 John 5:14-15, I don't believe it is in God's will for us to ask vengeance on anyone. Romans clearly says "never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God", and then goes on to state that we should feed and water our enemy, while overcoming good with evil. I do not prescribe to the idea of us praying for Him to. We can never know all of the variables in the situation. It is best left up to God and absent from our thoughts. I don't care what they did in the Hebrew Bible, I feel that Jesus brought a very different message to us in regards to that, and that is what I choose to follow. That still does not, in my opinion, take away from the intended message in II Kings. Whether one thinks that God put that scripture in the Hebrew Bible, or whether one thinks that it was just the author's idea about God and included it, I believe the message is clear and is relate-able to all eras. |
