What is your favorite pie?

I just made this Lemon Meringue Pie for my husband as I'm going out of town for a few days. Can't leave him without dessert!

What is your favorite kind of pie?

Wow, really? I don't think I could eat that, but I used to like Peppermint Patties. Does it taste like that?

Fresh squeezed lemons, zest and real butter are the key for a mean Lemon Meringue Pie. :thumbsup

I like to make Chocolate Meringue, but I wanted to use these lemons before they went bad.

Right! The chocoholic!! :toofunny

Why do they call it a Chess Pie? The ingredients look like a regular chocolate pie to me.

Not at all. The consistency is just like a chess pie.

Your pie turned out beautifully PO.

The pie I am best at, or make for the holidays is Dutch Apple.

I like most any pie, I like pie better than cake!

Thanks, Elizabeth. I was a bit sloppy on the meringue, but he won't care. Could have used one more teaspoon of cold water in the pie crust, but he won't care. LOL!

I'm going to make some Petit Fours for my daughter's baby shower. I bought the ingredients to practice, but I don't have time this week. I wanted to bring them to the youth group to try, but I'm not sure young people like jam filling in a cake. I'm thinking of making them without a filling. What do you think?

Your pie is very pretty!

I prefer petit fours without filling myself. The youth will too.

My favorite pie was any that my Great-Grandma Nichols made! :-(

She tried and tried to teach us how to make her crust, but none of us really ever came close, it was just her special magic I guess. She made a mean raisin pie, delicious!

Thanks! I could have done better, but I wasn't taking it anywhere. LOL!

That is what I will do then. I was leaning that way. I've made them before. They are very sweet! But, it's to be expected.

This is an easy recipe I found on-line. I had a perfect recipe and I lost it! Arghhh!

She uses buttercream frosting instead of the fondant. I like that better. Don't feel like messing with a bunch of marshmallows.

Thanks. I don't like mushy in the middle of a cake, so I pretty well wasn't going to do it. It would be more elegant, but I'd hate to go to the trouble and see pieces of cake in the trash. LOL!

I used to love Baker Square Pies, they had one with 5 layers-carmel, nuts, choc and the others I forgot. They went out of business =(

The crust can't be handled too much. Can't put too much or too less water. I have a perfect recipe that always works for me.

I'll check the recipe out. I've made them a couple of times - you have to be patient with them. I didn't use fondant either - - it was the normal icing that is very thin when you dip them, then it dries firm. I could never get them to look as "clean" as the bakery ones.

I just stopped eating dessert about three years ago. So, I do know what I'm doing and have cooked enough to know what is going to work and what doesn't. My husband tastes everything for me. :toofunny
