New Website for our Church

http://www.encounterministry.com/

If anyone can find any errors you folks can.

Give it a look, let me know if you see any errors and how easy it is to navigate and find what your looking for.

Tell me what you like and what you don't like.

There is an unneeded "space" character in the first line of the field about the "Seven Phrases..." This has resulted in an " Â " being displayed. This appears to have happened twice in that article.

Don't try to indent the paragraphs with spaces. This produces the " Â " characters. It's a UTF thing. It appears in IE8 when using the default Windows setting. Not everyone may see it.

Gotcha. Didn't see that on my computer at home. Thanks.

After you click on the hand graphic and go into default home page screen you need to add some padding to seperate the WWJD graphic from the surrounding words above and below. If your doing it in dreamweaver just right click and add it there. About 3-4 pixels will give you the spacing you need.

Both of our comments are good points... however, such nit picking is intended to show that it's a great looking site. Congrats!

Excellent website, Baron! I liked it better than any that I've seen. Well, I haven't looked up many (lol), but from the ones that I have, yours is tops! :thumbsup

Will send you email.

There are a couple thematic things about the site would like to discuss.

Trust all is going well on your project still?

Re: New Website for our Church

It is indeed a great looking site.

Point though... An all flash home page splash page, while it looks very nice, shoots you in the foot with the search engines... the spider cannot parse a flash file.. there needs to be plain old readable text on the home page to give fodder to the indexing spiders.

And for people.... people want information... pretty splash screens just make them do an unnecessary click. You would be better served by losing the splash and going straight to the informative and also very attractive main page.

On the content pages... The whole navigation is flash, again, cripples you with search spiders, if you are going to have a flash navigation, the main navigation should be duplicated using text links at the bottom of each page. This also helps users who don't have flash... like mobile users..

Also the "Home" link in the main navigation bar dumps back to the splash page, not the main page.

Again though it is a very nice site! Just a few constructive comments to help with usability and visibility!

Thanks for all the input.

Particularly the last post John, I did not know that.

Can't access the site. I'm at work and they haven't downloaded flash, to keep us off video and gaming sites. Lame.... (not your site, the not downloading flash part :lol )

Re: New Website for our Church

This is my favorite part of the website under "what to expect."

http://www.encounterministry.com/images/expectation.jpgIt's not easy visiting a new church for the first time! Sometimes you feel out of place and nervous. Do I belong here? Will I be welcomed? Will the people be friendly? Will they ask me for money? Will my kids enjoy it? How should I dress?

http://www.encounterministry.com/clip_image001.gif
When you show up at ECC, there are certain things that you can expect to find. You can expect to be greeted at the door with a smile, a bulletin, and a handshake. In fact, don't be surprised if you find it nearly impossible to turn around without somebody smiling, shaking your hand, saying hello, or even hugging you.

What is the dress code? At ECC there is no particular dress code. We have people that wear jeans and T-shirts as well as members that wear suits and ties. You just wear whatever makes you feel the most appropriate for coming to church.

I go to a church that happens to have a Trinitarian view.

I spent the first 30 years of my life in Oneness churches, figured I would spend the next 30 in Trinitarian churches.

Joining the staff next month.

Noticed the same thing.

Our resident liberal "apostolic" Yankee lawyer is also a Trinitarian ?

Not a Yankee, this is the farthest north I have ever lived, nor am I a Trinitarian. Do those of you who reject dispensationalism yet attend a church that is dispensational in its theology become dispensationalists by attending there?

But hey 1 for 3 isn't too bad.

Son you are in the heartland of the war of Northern Aggression.

Can't get much more Yankee than DC. :smack

As to the rest of your post, it is fair to assume someone "on staff" with a church espouses ALL their tenets of faith.

I don't live in DC I actually live in Southern, Maryland which you might recall was sympathetic to the South and attacked the U.S. troops as they marched through. I am just minutes from Virginia.

Nope, staff is not required to hold a particular view of the Godhead.

I am not threatened by their views nor are they by mine. We have bigger things to tackle than arguing about the Godhead.

LOL. Habit of thinking of anything North of Amarillo as Yankee.

As to the rest, I reckon if a perfect understanding of the nature God and of the Godhead is required for salvation we are all in big trouble.

I remember the history right Abe Lincoln actually had to sneak through Maryland to get to DC unmolested for his inauguration...and that was before the war officially started.

Yeah, well he lives in the suburbs of DC, and works in DC.

Seems like a little Gen 13:12 tent pitchin going on.

Just sayin....

That is the truth. I can't tell you how much I hate the DC attitude.

These people here all think they are way too important.

I assume the reference you used is wrong.

Unlike Oneness churches most Trinitarians don't make that part of every message. Not Once since we have been there has there been a single reference to the Trinity.

Baron, how does this work?

I see you take Oneness churches and organizations to task for false doctrine and extra-biblical standards because you want truth and yet you are willing to tolerate false doctrine of this magnitude?

Does not compute.

Love ya, though.

And even when I disagreed I sat under Oneness pastors that preached stuff I didn't agree with.

The deal is I find I have more in common with this church than any Oneness churches in our area. The closest one that I would attend is an hour and a half drive one way.

There are times when it drives you completely nuts.

It is easy to get caught up in the self important attitude. Good thing I have a sixteen year old to let me know how little I know.

I also have one near 30 who has suddenly discovered the old man just may have been right about a few things after all.
