Dearest friends

What a blessing it was to visit California on deputation. Even though I was raised in Arkansas I was born in California and sweet Elder and Sister Hyler rented us a room in the town where I was born…wow…that was almost 60 years ago…My how short life is. Of my almost 60 years almost 42 have been spent on the mission field!
I can think of no other higher privilege than the privilege God blessed me with by calling me to be a missionary. I live to be a missionary! I have never lost the wonder or the burden.
Even though we are on deputation we have talked to several of our people and our children to find out that God is blessing in an awesome way in Brazil.
This month we are facing a trial and we believe it will turn out to be a great victory. Our grandson Gabriel needs urgent medical attention. This means we will have to bring him to the Saint Francis hospital in Peoria, Illinois. Of course this requires funds. Gabriel did write out a cute little memo to me that he wanted for a monthly letter! I fixed it for him and am sending it out and included his picture on it. You will receive it if you are on our monthly mail out. We need urgently around 2000 dollars to bring him over because we have to buy what is called an open ticket for we do not know how long he will have to stay. His check up in Brazil the doctors are worried and 3 different doctors thought we need to bring him to have the doctors here to run tests. Many of you know he is nine and has had two heart surgeries. We do not have the type care he needs in our hospitals in Brazil to take care of his problem so our only hope is to ask you to help us bring him here to the states. If you can help us in any way please earmark your offering for Gabriel and I will be sharing with him those that will make it possible for him to come to the states. He is such a kind child and full of the Holy Ghost. He is so sensitive to God at his young age he reminds us much of Raul jr when he was little.

As I read that I cried thinking of many of our precious people in the interior parts of Brazil that live in dire poverty but because of your giving to missions they have found great wealth in Christ Jesus and promise of eternity with Him. Thank you for giving to missions for without your help we could not carry on.

The hospital in Ill. is studying his last operation...Please pray that they will give me the exact date. They sent word to me that the date will be in May but have not give the days that we need to be there. Please pray so we can know how to schedule the many things that press us to do. Blessings to all.

Thanks...We have had contact with the hospital in Ill and are waiting on the May date they will give us...thanks...if you all are in Jackson I will try to bring him by to see his Aunt Sherri sometime during the ordeal. Love you lots.

They're not talking surgery again, are they? If they are, I might just have to fly to Peoria!!

We do not know until they run all the tests...right now they said for me to prepare to stay a few days in Peoria for tests...but they are deciding on what days in May.

He sure loves you!

Yes, my baby is growing up! He does not realize the seriousness of his problem however he is so excited he is coming to the states. Yesterday God blessed me to find some shirts his size on sale and a little brown suit for 30 dollars!
