How Was Your Easter?

Just wondering how your Easter went today (if you celebrate Easter).

Re: How Was Your Easter?

For our family, Easter is not a church day but a family day.

We started that quite a few years ago when going to an Apostolic Church and our children were small. We never had the money for new clothes for Easter. Many people showed up on Easter who never darkened the doors of the church at any other time of the year. It was a good chance to try to present the Gospel to them. But, rather than put up with the overcrowding and my children feeling "out of it" without new clothes, we made it a family day. We dyed eggs a day or so before Easter. Then on Easter morning we had an egg hunt and we had a large basket of candy that we all shared. Then, some times we were able to go out for dinner. Going out for a meal was a rare treat at that time.

This year, two of our children, seven of our grandchildren, and our great grand son all were here for the big Easter basket and the egg hunt. We had a big meal here and with the pleasant weather (70 some degrees) most of us ate on the deck and the kids got to play together outside.

One son went to church with his wife and two children before coming here. The rest of us took the day off church.

I had a wonderful Easter. I don't have family in the area, so it was a church day for me. Went to an earlier morning service, regular 10:00 and 6:00. Three different churches. Had a good time, got to meet some new people, and got to celebrate the Resurrection in a way I hadn't for a number of years. It was a nice change.

I got up not feeling 100% but dragged myself out of bed and forced myself to go to church. We have chairs at our church (not pews) and after a couple of songs, I leaned over to pick up the bulletin I had placed under the chair when THWOCK!! the guy in front of me had his daughter in his arms and he went to sit down and missed his chair. He fell backwards and the chair and half his weight tipped over and hit me full force on the head, knocking my glasses off and making them fly. I sat up stunned and felt like I might pass out. A woman ran up to the man and asked him if he was okay. My husband tried to give the man my glasses, thinking they were his. No one even noticed I was hit! I started crying and couldn't stop so I went into the bathroom. The guy felt terrible for hitting me. So now here two days later my head still hurts!

But hey, other than that, we had a nice visit with my parents and other family members. :D

Once again, the easter bunny brought me jack. I am going to stop believing in him if this doesn't change.

Thanks.

ILG, this is sign concerning your church choice... Your hubby, the man and daughter should all be disciplined!

:) J/K

How are you feeling now? Have you been otherwise ill?

Re: How Was Your Easter?

On Easter my niece and her fiancée were involved in a bad wreck. Their buggy was hit from behind with a car traveling full speed. The man in the car was 85 yrs old, and there are no evidences that he braked.

My niece has a broken leg and neck. She had surgery yesterday and hardware put in her neck. She will hopefully recover fully. Her fiancée however, has serious spinal cord injury and is paralyzed at this time.

Please pray for this young couple.

Wow, that's sad. I will pray for them.

In response to your question, I have not been feeling up to snuff for a few days. I think maybe God was judging me for attending church and He wants me to quit. ;)

You mentioned an 85 year old man was driving. They just took my Granny's driver's license away. She is 89. My Dad took her car because she kept driving it and my Granny called the cops on my Dad. It's kind of tough on everyone right now. She has some dementia and just doesn't understand what is happening. Maybe you could pray for her too. This very type of thing is what we are trying to prevent. It's hard on everyone.

I still believe in the Easter Bunny but I have serious doubts about The Great Pumpkin.

RG, The horse had minor injury. Very often in a car vs buggy accident the horse is either killed or has to be put to sleep because of broken legs etc.

Sorry fir the thread hijack Sam.

Steven--so sorry to hear about your neice and her finance!! Praying that they both recover soon.

My Easter was awesome, but hectic. We went back to two services and had a total of 1639. Very excited about that number! My sister and BIL were here from Indiana. We had Beef Stroganoff at home and then my BIL had to leave. My sister stayed a couple days and went to Cordova to church with us Easter evening at 5 pm. She got to hang out with Renda, who she hadn't seen for a while, so that was fun. A bunch of us went out after church there. We had a great crowd there too - lots of visitors!
