Anyone getting an iPad?
Anyone getting one? I know of a youth pastor in the area that bough one and is using it for his sermons instead of physical notes. Pretty cool use.
I am going to head down to Best Buy to play with one, but no flash and no multi-tasking seems to knock it down a few notches to me. HP will be releasing a table later this year that will include both features, along with some other extras. |
Re: Anyone getting an iPad?
I am not a big Apple fan but mostly because the products are so expensive. No doubt an Apple computer is much better for music and video production but when looking at desktops for example the Apple cost twice as much.
Maybe down the road I will get an ipad but definitely not these first ones out. If I got one I would want the version coming out in a few weeks or months that has 3G capability. The one just out only has wifi. Besides as you mentioned probably HP or Dell will have one for less money before long. |

I am not going to get an iPad, mainly because I prefer something I can throw Ubuntu on. It would be nice, however, if the market drove down the table prices like it did the netbook prices. I will probably get a tablet when the prices get close to netbook prices. It would be handy to have around the house for the wife. |

Waiting.
No USB ports, no flash, no multi-tasking. Proprietary Apple/Mac files. Not paying hundreds of bucks on a modified Kindle. |
Re: Anyone getting an iPad?
Maybe. Played with one for awhile in the Apple store yesterday while waiting at the genius bar for my 3rd iPhone. both of the other two failed under warranty conditions in less than 10 months which is making me have doubts as to apple's quality control.
I like it, if I do get one I'll wait until 3g is available. HOWEVER, I am also thinking about waiting for the HP Slate. Might be more my speed and will be aroung the same price. No word though on whether or not it will have a 3g modem though. |

Re: Anyone getting an iPad?
I did think of getting one for my daughter who is starting college this fall, the iBook application is cool, but of course, the text book publishers aren't getting on board with that, Why make it simple for a kid to carry around on light little device when you can make them pay thousands of dollars and carry around heavy books.

Probably not getting an Ipad. I am waiting, however, for he refresh of the MacBook Pro line! I am ready for an upgrade and won't do anything else but a Mac now! I am waiting somewhat impatiently! :D

Re: Anyone getting an iPad?
Here is one of the other options that is releasing later this year:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/05/h...-hour-battery/ It will be able to multi-task, uses a full OS, will be able to play 1080P. If these specs hold true, however, the battery life would be half what the iPad has. I would think with these devices one would want as long a battery as possible. And the software experience will probably not be as smooth as an iPad. |
Re: Anyone getting an iPad?
Apple is anouncing iPhone OS 4.0, which is supposed to bring multitasking to the iPad and iPhone.
That isn't my biggest gripe though. I like the thing but the lack of expandability and the inability to browse windows network shares is the reason I haven't bought one yet. |
Re: Anyone getting an iPad?
Besides just getting a product out there and getting sales, why would Apple put out such a mediocre and lame product?
Seriously? You can connect to the internet, but good luck with a ton of websites that use flash. No webcam or camera. Just seems like a waste of money to me. |
