Why does it seem that everyone has to be up front, where everyone can see? And how often do people "worship God" like this in the privacy of their home? It seems the weirder or wilder or more out of the control one gets the more glory God gets??????? Quit Thinkin Been Thinkin. Nobody's gonna like you after this! Been Thinkin |
Re: Can't say I miss this.....No disrespect intend
I read recently about a court case, in maybe Michigan, where a woman sued a church after she fell and hit her head after being "slain". Soon shockamoo may become an insurance liability. :hmmm

I wish I knew how to post videos. I would like to post Bro. Murrell Ewing singing "He Saw Me!" An awesome song, sung by an awesome man.
Saw Bro. Ewing last week at Rev David Hennigan's funeral in DeQuincy, La. He is a "Godly man" one who has never treated me any different, even after I left the UPC. He's a Christian, head and shoulders above most! (That's my opinion not his!) Been Thinkin |

This is what the world is looking for, right here...The Power of God!!! They're tired of dead, dull, dry religion! They wanna see the REAL THING!!!! I'm telling ya, ANY of my unsaved neighbors would walk into that place and immediately become a believer, right then! NONE of them would say, "These people are nuts!" Why, it'd never even cross their minds. In fact, my gamblin', drinkin', fornicatin' neighbor would probably jump right in there and start floppin' on the floor! I'll bet this church has five thousand conversions this year!!! I mean, unsaved people LOVE this stuff!!! |

I think I noticed something.....the girl in the blue....she was talking to the girl to her right just a little before she blew a gasket. And then, she turned to the girl, the girl turned to her, and there's like a head-nod or something, and then she flips out. It almost looked like maybe a dare or something, and then the girl said something like, "here goes." I'm surmising but something seems fishy. Well, everything about this stuff is fishy. But check it out....it's jsut before the 1 minute mark. |
Re: Can't say I miss this.....No disrespect intend

Amazing grace, repentance, water baptism, holyghost baptism is what saved a wretch like me......................... |

I've been in true blue powerful services where everyone was moving even first time visitors falling with out coaching/coercion. I think the man problem is trying to recreate it or bring it our about by our jukin and jiving.

Great memories of Murrell Ewing, leading the choir at Texas Campmeeting!! And youth camps! Quite a contrast to the preaching I might say. "I once was lost, but now I am found"!!! John Newton. And me.

This is probably the most powerful rendition of Amazing Grace, ever! (Go to 5:30 if you want to skip the intro. The intro is good, though) |

Oh my goodness!! She totally did. Dang, why didn't I think of that when I was a kid? I could've got some serious revenge on some people and there would be nothing they could do about it! :lol But I'm totally convinced she was staging her shenanigans. She told that girl next to her something and then went psycho. I had a guy once tell me, "Watch me when they start the second verse" and then he tore the house down when they started the second verse. |

Guess I missed that service. I've seen then shake their head in disgust, their face turn white with fear, and head for the exits. I never saw them like it. |

Re: Can't say I miss this.....No disrespect intend
I have only read a couple of posts on this thread. I steer clear of this subject because while I have pretty strong feelings about the subject I don't question the sincerity of people who worship that way. I do believe the vast majority of them are doing it unto the Lord even if what they are doing is not neccessarily in the Bible and is Pentecostal culture / tradition.
I believe there is a happy medium or moderation in the area of our emotions. Some people never open their hearts and emotions to the presence of God and miss enjoying the presence of God. Others go to the other extreme and believe people can't have a close relationship with God without jerking and twitching and running the aisles. |

Now I have a question. I don't want this to be offensive or antagonistic. Just a question. How does God look at individuals that are in the "flesh" in their "worship?" Does He approve of it and does He smile on the actions of those individuals? I have seen in my time, in the church, those persons who were in the flesh. How did I know? God does not tear down instruments, bust out sheetrock and otherwise run over people. He never causes someone to be injured worshipping Him! If God would answer this question, verbally, what would His answer to us be? Been Thinkin |

Re: Can't say I miss this.....No disrespect intend
I don't really have a problem with some physical worship, or even dancing. I would rather like to be in a service such as that up until about the 1 minute mark. I don't mind some outward expression. I'm not a very "outward" person, though I have had an experience where I was moved upon by the Spirit to dance, and it to this day was the most yeilded to the Spirit of God I ever was. It was absolutely amazing, but it was in order, I would imagine something akin to David dancing before the Lord.:bliss :shockamoo
As for people throwing themselves on the ground rolling and waving body parts all over the place, I'm not comfortable with that at all, and would uite frankly rather be at home. I like emotional, involved worship, but it should be done in order. In my opinion order could be defined as appearing to be in your right mind to others who are present-especially visitors. For example if I clap, raise my voice in praise or song, or even dance I could do so in my right mind, and appear to be in my right mind to most (depending on the dance-if I go into break dancing, or throw myself on the floor, I doubt anyone would think that was in order-no doubt there is a line that can be crossed). However, if Iam screeching at the top of my lungs, running around the church at full speed (especially to trip or run into a wall), walk on pews like balance beams, etc. I doubt anyone (especially visitors) would think I was sane. And I personally don't think that God gets glory from foolishness. And the sad thing is that many times those who are the most "active" are the least consecrated. Not always, but many times. Basically i don't think we have to be sticks in the mud, but neither do we have to act the way that some people do. and I really don't think that is "woshipping" God. Hey, if you want to worship God, go love your neighbor, love the sinner, find someone in need and ease their burden. Just my two cents. |
