I Had Lunch With Timmy

Since there's a lot being said about Timmy right now, I suppose this is as good a time as any other to tell you that my family and I had lunch, recently, with Timmy.

Much has been made about Timmy's "beliefs" or lack thereof, as called by some. I have maintained that Timmy is a wonderful person and I've defended him relentlessly. I've maintained that Timmy displays more of the characteristics of "Christ-likeness" than most who claim a "walk with God."

Not long ago, I faced a crisis with my son who was facing almost certain death. In sheer panic, I jumped on my laptop and emailed a few friends. Then I got on AFF and PMed 5 people that I trusted. One of them was Timmy. I wasn't even sure what to ask him to do...wasn't sure if he would pray...but I said, "whatever it is you can do, I need you right now." His response to my desperation PM was moving.

But of course, I hadn't actually met him in person, only on the phone. So recently, circumstances brought him close to where I live and we met for lunch, the four of us, and Timmy.

My family has now joined me as "Timmy fans". He was as considerate, kind, and pleasant, as he is on The Forum. The place was pretty crowded so we were only able to be there for a couple of hours, but it was enough time to know that he's one of my best friends. The bottom line is, if I ever needed help, he'd be one of the first...maybe the first....I'd call.

Even though he's from an AG background, and UPC for me, we have a LOT in common with things that have led us where we are. We may have reached different conclusions, but it clearly wasn't that big of a deal.

So Timmy, thanks for your friendship and kindness to my family. They adore you and are excited to see you again soon. As far as I'm concerned, Timmy is a good man. I'll avoid getting too personal, but he's also a great dad who cares greatly for and treats his children like every father should.

Boy thanks N O W for the explanation. When I saw the title of this thread my first thought was, "Boy, are you okay?" JUST KIDDING!!! Great report. We probably are all guilty of drawing false conclusions about people we don't know. I hope you think the best of me...at least until you find out differently! :bliss Timmy, I'm gonna listen a little closer to what you have to say! Might learn something, reckon?

Re: I Had Lunch With Timmy

Ok, here's the story that we were originally going to go with....

"Hey folks, I had lunch with Timmy and as we prayed for our lunch, the power of God began to move. Timmy started to cry and shake. I asked him if he wanted to re-commit his life and he said yes. He fell to his knees in the restaurant and we prayed together. Very soon Timmy will be reappearing on the forum and you will be seeing the difference. He is moving to our church and will be leading our prayer ministry with aspirations toward entering the ministry."

Timmy was going to play along for a couple of days and tell about the great experience. Then, in a couple of days, he'd say he had relapsed into doubt again.

But we concluded that it would be cruel and would be way too disappointing. Others would see it as a mockery and I don't ever want to appear that way. Plus, I think we both would have been thrown off The Forum!:lol

So this morning, we decided to can it.

:lolI really wanted to and Tim said he'd thought of doing something similar. But I'll admit to being the wimpy one. I'm usually on thin ice around here as it is. But now that you mention it, I think Timmy did actually dance around the table a little bit. But I think he did that when I paid the bill!:lol

It's funny how things like that get to us.

I was talking to someone on Yahoo messenger the other day. I was very upset and feeling taken advantage of because on a day when I felt really physically ill, I kept my word to someone and kept children for them. Three of them. It wasn't an easy thing considering how I felt that day- and those three kids were all under the age of 4. Well, anyway, to make a long story short... the mother told me in the beginning she was only going to be gone a couple of hours, and it turned into an all day thing with no contact from her until late in the afternoon-- only for her to tell me that she was out of gas and sending someone else to get them and they'd be here a couple of hours later.

I kind of vented a bit to the friend I was talking to. He said just a few simple words to me. He said, "When you've done it for the least of these..........." Those words hit me between the eyes like a brick.

Boy, did that ever send me a message. I've been trying to better watch MY attitude since then... and my reaction to things. :D

Actually I live several miles north of Cincinnati, closer to Hamilton.

I've learned to teleport by watching "Heroes" on Monday nights.:toofunny

I can name every starter and most of the bench from the 74-78 "Big Red Machine". Joe Morgan, 1975-76 MVP, was my favorite.
