I was baptized today!

By the friend I'm living with right now, in my pastor's swimming pool (very cold swimming pool I might add, but minus the snakes in the river we considered using...lol).

WOW!

And while I was standing in the water trying to catch my breath after being dunked in that cold water....lol My daughter decided to be baptized, no dry clothes along or anything. I got to stand on one side of her, my friend on the other, and baptize my daughter.

I do feel very, very different. I know why I was doing this, a few reasons, but a change inside of me wasn't even something I thought was possible from something so simple. Something has definitely changed, for the better. It's awesome. :)

Proud...explain!? So many people say this, and I don't get it. Proud? I didn't do anything.....

Proud of the courage you had for the proclamation of your faith! It's a big step!! We've talked a little here and there and I'm aware of the love/hate relationship you've had, a bit, with the church. Maybe "Love/hate" isn't the best word-choice, but hopefully, you know what I mean.

And by the way....please don't answer any of the doctrine warriors that are dropping the "Hope it was in Jesus' Name" remarks.

I'm around, I've just been INSANELY quiet since I moved. It's like being in an intensive care unit around here right now...very, very, very, very amazingly good, but very, very, very, very intensely challenging too.

I see! This makes sense. This is a huge step for me. Love/hate is probably not a bad word-choice. :)

She made the public proclamation on an Apostolic site.

She doesn't have to answer anyway, it's really none of my business.

She already knows the joy and sincerity I have for her.

When I seriously contemplate being a pastor even after my "Love/hate" relationship with the church, my head spins! Somehow, grace became bigger than my frustrations! So I hope you threw a big party! If the water you were baptized in was as cold as the water I was baptized in, you deserve an extra star in your crown!!:lol

I don't think it was cold enough for an extra star. :D My pastor did tell Kathi "If you want to do this, I'll just stand and watch from the much warmer sidelines" though. :D If I'd gotten into a snake infested river...then there'd be call for extra stars. But I didn't.... *shudder*

We did go out to eat, but no big party. :) Maybe tomorrow...?

I would say it had to have been in Jesus' name in order for Nahkoe to speak of it as she did! There's something about that name! Woohoo! :bliss

NAN, I REJOICE with you! Somehow I thought you were a longtime follower of the Lord. I did not realize you had not been baptised into Christ as of yet.

Congradulations on this very siginificant event in your Christian walk. May your journey be fruitful, faithful and fantastic!

It's a long story Hoovie. :D

And it sounds like some really good fiction when I try to tell it. lol

That's great nahkoe... but is it the "real thing" without snakes, 'gators and critters in the water with you? I guess if it was really cold water that would suffice. http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...ons/icon12.gif

In the high country around here, most of the water is too cold to have critters in it. But there are some hot springs though...

LOL @ pelathais

It's not a valid baptism unless you risk death before you go under, thereby sending you to hell, right? LOL Well, I guess if the alligator rolled you under, the preacher could just scream the appropriate formula and you'd be ok.

According to some, only if the alligator was a licensed, cardholding UPC minister... :toofunny

N.O.W, is a baptism in the name of Krishna acceptable?

Why would anyone on an Apostolic Jesus Name Forum ( isn't AFF supposed to be Apostolic One God Jesus Name Baptism forum ) take offence to anyone hoping our Sister braved the chill in Jesus name? I sure hope Sister got baptized in Jesus' precious name. I think nakoe believes I'm here friend, but what kind of friend would I be if I wasn't honest with her by wanting to know if it was in Jesus' name. Since Jesus name baptism is Biblical, and since we are talking about a baptism, shouldn't it logically been the way her baptism been performed?

In Jesus name

reminds me of the words to the old song:

Went to the water,
the water was cold,
chilled my body
but thrilled my soul

That baptism in that video probably could not wash away sin, it just froze them and then they slid off
