Watch the Baptistry

Quite an array of Church conduct going on here. I don't think you see this much anymore.

I...really don't know what to say. I'm tempted to call it a spoof, especially since the singer is laughing, but who knows?

Did the guy jump into the baptistry, or did he fall in?

I loved when the one guy threw his coat on the man with the mic!

You could say he fell in, but you'd probably want to put air quotes around "fell". :heeheehee

Actually, looks like a jump, to me, and not even a faked fall.

Well,
maybe that was a sinner anxious to get baptized and get those sins washed off RIGHT NOW!!!!

or,
maybe it was someone who wanted to get rebaptized and the pastor had advised him against it so he thought this was his chance

possibly the coat over the guys head was so he wouldn't see the guy getting rebaptized

or,
maybe his clothes were on fire and he was desperate

or,

maybe the line to the restroom was too long and he had had an accident and didn't want anyone to know it so he jumped into the baptistery to hide the evidence

or,

This is a prime picture at how some pentecostal just go stupid in worship. I mean stupid too because I seriously doubt that if the singer sang that with a lower voice and not screaming that people wouldn't be rolling around and going stupid. It is entertaining....gymnastics for Jesus is about all that I can call this. Not sure it is real worship anymore than I know that it is fake because I really don't know the hearts of the people. I think it is hilarious when the guy swinging the coat almost smacks a guy in the face that is sitting down only to then throw it and it hit the singer in the head. Unfortunately I have been in services like these and they are more folly than Holy, IMO.

Man the only thing that I could really understand the singer say is "IT WILL BE MINE!" and I am fluent in 'Country Grammar'. I took it all my life and I have a Master's Degree is 'Country Grammar' with a minor in 'Hick Talk'.

I wasn't sure if the singing was in English or in some other language.

Notice the guy doesn't reappear. Wonder what he's thinking in the back room. "Oh, MAN, my drivers license is SOAKED!"

Maybe he lost his contacts and/or dentures in the murky water and is desperately trying to find them.

Maybe he drowned.

Maybe he's too embarrassed to show his face and will try to wait underwater and out of sight until every one leaves and then sneak out.

Re: Watch the Baptistry

This reminds me of a funny story that TL Craft tells.

A 12 year old trouble maker in the church came up to the alter and got the Holy Ghost one Sunday night. He wanted to be baptized right away, so Bro. Craft motioned to one of the assistant pastors to take the kid in back to change clothes, etc. The kid changed clothes real fast while the assistant was taking his time.

The kid leaves the room by himself goes over to the baptistery and does a cannon ball into the water. He immediately does a handstand where only his feet could be seen sticking out of the water.

Bro. Craft turns around when people started pointing and thought the kid was drowning! Bro. Craft runs to the baptistery and dives in suit and all to save the kid!

Needless to say, Bro. Craft was very angry with that kid for a long time after that! haha!

Yeah...definitely think that hitting the singer in the face with the coat, among other things, would fall under "indecent" and "out of order." :blink

If that happened in our church, I have no doubt that our pastor would issue an immediate and public reprimand.

Re: Watch the Baptistry

The late Jamie Buckingham told a story about mid service Sunday baptism. The plan was for him to step down into the baptistry and baptize the candidate and then get out and continue on with the service after the choir sang. Well, he had on waders and the water was deeper than anticipated. The water filled the waders and he was unable to get out of the tank. His whole congregation saw him climb out of his waders and crawl out of the baptistery in his underwear so he could go on with the service.

I wonder if there is anyone here, AFF, where stuff like this is THE NORM. It certainly is entertaining and good for a BIG laugh. Even though I am sure that this type of stuff is far from common in our ranks it is videos like this that give pentecostal worship look stupid. I mean a lot of what we do is just working up a sweat and not working up revelation. I know that my home church in TN often times some one will whistle out loud during worship, but that is not scriptural, but it is fun. I wonder if Jesus just looks at our worship sometimes and says, "that's just goofy." No doubt God loves our worship but out loonacy...eh not sure He likes that too much.

I can name a place like that... Except that no one would dare throw their coat at the man with the mic, and no one ever went clear in the baptistry, though we did think a few times that someone was going to. I used to go there.

First time I heard a loud whistle at Church, I cringed.

Wasn't long, and I was joining in!

Have to admit, I felt a great release when I did it. You know, we did it at Rock Concerts and stuff, so why not to God!

My wife found it on Facebook this morning. One of her friends put the video on their Wall and I came out of my seat when I saw it!! What surprised me, the friend is a Conservitive Pastor's wife. Not too sure why she posted it.

I told her, "I need that link, NOW!! It's going on AFF"!

I prophesy NOW is gonna come in here with a straight face and beat me down for laughing, but the comedy is built into this one. Some people in the video, including the singer, was bustin at the seams.

Simple. the men always do the "heavy lifting". We will call for assistance when the weepings begin.

You should start a website where the rest of us can go learn Country Grammar...it might help me over in the Theology section of AFF
