Question about the rapture!

Christians sin everyday (at least i do). If i didnt repent of a sin i just committed and the rapture takes place, will i be raptured?

Just what are you doing to "sin every day...?" Never mind. Don't answer.

Maybe I'm just really old and slow. Dunno. Maybe that's my sin that I sin every day?

If one sins everyday its doubtful they are a Christian so they should not assume they will ever see the rapture.

I was hoping no one would answer - - then he'd think the rapture had taken place!

So, if you question whether or not you'll be taken up in the rapture - you probably won't be?

What if you question the whole idea of there being a Dispensational rapture? Would a good faithful Preterist be raptured in spite of their Preterism?

Would a Dispensationalist who died looking for a rapture that never came still be save when the Preterist eschaton finally wraps up?

I am referring to all the trivial "what ifs" you could come up with?? Like if a man gets "saved" and dies in a car crash before he can get his hair cut! there are hundreds of these type questions!

What if we phrased it "If one is not perfect everyday its doubtful they are a Christian so they should not assume they will ever see the rapture.", would you still agree?

I'm looking at how silly and minute most of our disagreements are when they are scaled against the palisades of eternity.

The goal of a Christian is to be perfect even as the Father in Heaven is perfect. Read Matt. 5:48

The normal Christian does not commit sin.

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1 John 3:9

And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. Gal. 5:24

If one WOULD sin God being merciful will forgive.

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 1 John 2:1

A new convert should be instructed to overcome sin. It should be treated as something serious. One should never be taught to expect they will continue in sin.

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Rom. 6:1-2

This should be taught to the newly baptized.

The rapture (post trib by the way) is for overcomers!

[25] Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
[26] That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
[27] That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Eph. 5:25-27

Since there isn't any Scripture that gives us a clear view of this, any answer that I gave you would be nothing more than eisegesis.

What if you had a Stars Wars lunch box, and it had a Star Trek Mr Spock thermos slightly rusted at the seam on the bottom, would you still be part of the 144,000?

So, the Bible doesn't clearly explain it? That's scary. And weird.

Maybe if you had a 6 Million Dollar man lunchbox your odds would improve substantially.

If you lived a sinless life for years, and then forgot to use your turn signal to change lanes (obeying the law of the land), and God came back before you had a chance to repent, you would go to Hell... but just remember, He loves you unconditionally!

I was going to say something about my typical drive to work earlier..... If our God was truly a "Gotchya!" God, then there are probably half a dozen opportunities for Him to "get me!" on my daily commute. But then wouldn't the slow poke drivers going the speed limit (or under) in the fast lane also be "less than perfect" for causing "wrath" in me unnecessarily, not to mention sinning themselves for not following proper road etiquette(and thus being doubly "less then perfect")?

Is "missing the mark" (as used in our common vernacular) always a sin?

In what sense do you sin everyday? First let's define sin. I firmly believe that if sin is properly defined most would be shocked to see that it is indeed possible to live without sinning every day. In fact, many have and don't know it.

Aquila 05-19-2010 06:47 AM

Re: Question about the rapture!

I believe that “sin” can be defined by the following:
Having more than one God as your object of worship and devotion.
Worshipping a false God.
Speaking of God irreverently.
Failing to set aside time for worship and fellowship.
Failing to honor the family, namely your father and your mother.
Committing murder or conducting character assassination.
Failing to honor marriage in thought or deed.
Taking that which doesn’t rightfully belong to you.
Lying.
Being unthankful for what you have and allowing your desire to have what others have be your driving motivator.
I firmly believe that the above clearly defines the basic acts of sin. Nearly every “sin” of the Bible can be classified under one of the above in some way.

How can you avoid committing acts like those listed above. Simple… love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. Pretty simple. Most would be shocked to know that they have and indeed can live a day without committing “sin”.
