Is Jesus In The Godhead Or....

1 Attachment(s)
Attached as a pdf file is a booklet by Gordon Magee titled, Is Jesus In The Godhead Or Is The Godhead In Jesus?

This is some of his explanation/teaching on "the Godhead."

If I remember correctly, this book was at one time distributed through the UPC Publishing House.

Both.

Re: Is Jesus In The Godhead Or....

Reading through it now, he makes a great point I never thought of. In the gospels when Jesus was 12 and sitting in the Temple with the doctors and lawyers... in effect he was sitting in his own House and Temple (if you factor in his divinity). Thats some trippy late night theology there.

On page 11-12.

If we had been alive at the time when Luke had written his
gospel story, and if we had gone to Luke and said, “Tell us,
please, Dr. Luke, whom did Joseph and Mary find that day in
the temple?” then he would have said, “Why, they found the
twelve-year-old boy Jesus.”

But another voice has also spoken—the Old Testament
prophet Malachi—and he has told us who was found in the
temple that day: “Behold, I will send my messenger [John
the Baptist], and he shall prepare the way before me: and
the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple”
(Malachi 3:1).

Malachi said that the twelve-year-old growing boy found in
the temple was none other than Jehovah Himself. That is a wonderful
thought! That ornate temple, that beautiful magnificent
temple, actually belonged to a twelve-year-old boy sitting in the
midst of those learned doctors, hearing them and asking them
questions.

yeppers.
That 12 year old youth sitting there was Jehovah, the LORD-God for whom the Temple had been built.

According to Malachi 3:1 the boy there was not only the Lord God, He was also the Angel/Messenger of YHWH, the One known as the Logos or Memra, the way the invisible God was historically seen and interacted with in the Old Testament.

This book makes some great points, however it tends towards a nestorian/unitarian view

Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the LORD, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

Malachi 3:2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:

It seems a stretch to say that is a prophecy about Jesus' earthly ministry at all. (When Jesus appeared was it as a refiner's fire or did they delight in him?)

I have not checked it out n this file yet, but Magee originally had the ANGEL OF GOD doctrine in that book, which the UPC removed later. This is the belief that the Angel of God was a consistent manifestation in the physical of God, like Michael the Disciple believes, became the Word of God made flesh in the New Testament.

Some of the old timers believed in the Angel of YHWH as a pre-incarnate form of Christ. I think at one time you had Eld. Patterson's book on your web site which promoted that.

I think this is one of the most succinct works I've read on this subject. Bought it for my kindle and had been wishing I had a "hard copy" to mark up. Thank you so much for the pdf so I can print out some of the pages I want to keep with my Bible!

He had the book by Elder Drysdale on his site. It was THE BEST of all the writings I have ever read on the Godhead. It would be a great service to Apostolics to have it posted on the net again. It would be unbearable to think Oneness people would lose this revelation. Many already have.

Colossians 3: 6-10

6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
