How many ministers do we have on here?

I was thinking, how many clergy ministers do we have on here? Lets do a roll call with affiliation if possible.

Clergy. I guess I should say, "Pastor"? No affiliation. However, we're a member of the Willow Creek Association and the Mosaic Alliance, and a personal overseer.

Licensed with a local congregation here in Florida, plan on joining Global Network after I get married in July. Planning to launch a church later this year - first quarter next year.

I could and should also join the AWCF since I know alot of them.

I like some of Willow Creeks stuff. I enjoyed reading Bill Hybels biography of Willow Creek and all its ups and downs.

VERY inspiring indeed. I was there when they celebrated the 30-year date and it was very emotional. I have nothing but the greatest admiration and respect for what they do and how they do it.

Ok you got your poll, it allows for multiple choices if its a complex answer.

I'm already stuck! I have a license with Global but I've never participated in anything. I use it only for the license. So do I check "Global" or not?? I don't feel like Global represents what I do. I'm already confused!:lol

The poll is missing "non-ministers" for those who aren't ministers at all.

No we will save that for the thread about all the "Doctors" we have preaching behind our pulpits. I asked one Dr. of Theology a few years ago what his doctoral and masters dissertations were on ... he gave me a blank stare and I knew that he bought it from a diploma mill.

They'll have to add a new category to the poll if you get the job!

Or you could have asked "How many here are ministers named 'Vaughn'?"

Well, I use the term minister loosely.

If someone is a elder at their church and does some functions that we typically keep only to the ministers in our faith tradition like baptisms, teaching/preaching, etc ... but doesnt have a license, per se, that counts too.

Actually the guy I am referring to is a poster on here, he hates my guts for advising him to get a job during a church budgeting session when it came time to find places to free up more money :).

Be nice to our Branhamite posters, we need more of them ... they are fun to debate.

I don't think he has been doing much posting lately, unless he got out already (or is allowed to use a PC in the joint).

I would count that also.
I suppose I would say someone who holds no authority in their church. They don't study for Sundays, meet with elderly people, marry folks, bury folks... they are part of the community but are not elders. So, yes, I prefer the word "elders" as well. Actually, I don't like the word elder, but that's more a matter of style :)

Pray for me, Bro. It's just a "tech librarian" type of thing - storage analyst, but it's interesting. My biggest grief is how much weight they'll put into the telephone communication responsibilities. I'd love to just communicate through email and chats only.

There really is no good term for them... I know what you mean... they don't need a title to define them... they just ARE.. if that makes sense. They typically are recognized as a minister even if no one will give them a license.

I've heard them called "Influencers", "Foundation Saints", "Elders", "Deacons" and a ton of other things.

From what I've seen of your posts, they need you in the library for sure and will certainly benefit from you're being there! :thumbsup

AWCF is the biggest one listed.

Yes, technically it is. I am a friend of Luke Smith and he took me to the HQ church in Evansville while we were dorm mates at IBC. Been to two AWCF General Conferences.

But the AWCF is a network of oneness groups, they do have a few actual licensed ministers, but for the most part they play that down.

But yes, the AWCF is larger than anyone else if you combine the 100+ global fellowships (including Ethopia/Teklemarian and the Phillipines/Almeda/Others) and it crushes the UPCI in raw numbers... but you have to take a really open view for that to work... the AWCF is mostly a networking group.

Frankly, I don't feel worthy, but the congregation seems to always support me in whatever decision I make. They are good people and I'm very blessed.

Re: How many ministers do we have on here?

Over the years I have been a licensed minister with the following organizations:

Church of Jesus Christ, joined in 1959, left soon afterward because I was attending a UPC church and doing some preaching there and thought it might be a conflict. The Church of Jesus Christ was chartered by Bishop Mark Lawson in 1927. It has been through various splits, etc. but is still in existence. The Presiding Bishop is Anthony Adinolfi.

Church of Jesus Christ, Pentecostal Faith. I belonged to this group for a few years in the 1960's. I let my license lapse after I started attending an ALJC Church. This group merged with The Church of Jesus Christ (Bishop Lawson's original group) in 1971.

ALJC. I was part of this organization in the 1970's. I served as sectional youth leader in the Ohio District. When I turned 40 in December 1977 I resigned my youth leader position and allowed my license to lapse.

I am currently ordained in the Churches of Jesus Christ International with headquarters in Cleveland, TN. Bishop Boyd Lawson (son of the late Bishop Mark Lawson) is Chairman or Presiding Bishop.
