Ladies, I have a question
Getting my daughter's baby shower together, I'm using well over 130 roses. These are the cream Carolina roses at Hobby Lobby. Gorgeous! You can't tell they are not real!
I've pulled all of the leaves off and have a tub full of rose leaves. I can't think of anything I would do with them. Should I throw them away? Could they be used in Sunday School, etc., etc.? Just checking before I trash them. I'm not a collector or a hoarder. I don't keep anything I'm not going to use. Any ideas? TIA! |
Re: Ladies, I have a question
Well...you could hot glue them to foam balls and make topiaries? I don't know....
You could just put them in ziplocs and put the in the SS storage closet--I have used loose leaves for things before, to add texture to walls, etc. |

I hate making topairies. I hate styrofoam!! But, I will keep them for that!! Thanks, Abi!!! I will tell the SS teachers if they ever need any, I have them. But, I'm not going to store them at church. I might need them. :D |
Re: Ladies, I have a question
Now my mind is rolling with other ideas.
You could also buy the appropriate sized gift boxes (for a vase), glue leaves to that and put together whatever arrangement you want in the box. You could build the arrangement into clay or real dirt, if the flowers are real. Then you could spread (depending on theme) a pretty moss, glass pieces, whimsical filler, etc., to cover the clay/dirt. |
Re: Ladies, I have a question
Yep - love Miss B's idea.
I have seen vases with the leaves on them too. |

I could also use them as a table runner and then place the centerpieces on them. Now that would be pretty. I have a zillion leaves! LOL! |

Re: Ladies, I have a question
I am not a lady or women, but here is an idea....make hair bows out of them when you are done. Sell them and help recoup some of the cost.

:toofunny NO hair bows unless they are for children! I think the leaves are too big anyway. |

My daughter said, "Mother will all the money you've spent on this shower, you could have bought everything that I need and we wouldn't have needed to have a baby shower!" :ursofunny Needless to say, I'm a little touchy on the cost issue. :D :toofunny |

I've pondered on this ever since you posted and it just hit me this morning what you are describing. Glue the leaves to the box and use it for the arrangement instead of a vase.... ???? That would be really cute. My creative juices just don't flow as well as yours seem to. :razz But I have gotten great ideas from you in previous threads! :thumbsup Looking forward to pictures of the shower and all the decor! |

I'm still not sure the fake leaves would be as pretty as using real leaves. I'd have to see what it would look like. Perhaps spraying a finish to give them a shine would make them look more real. That would work! Now what this means is that I would have to take the stems from ALL of the leaves in the tub and clip the three leaves off EACH stem. Now that is a lot of leaves to trim. LOL! Not happening any time soon! LOL! Hope I don't forget my camera for the baby shower!!!! LOL! I have a note to make sure it's charged! LOL! |

I am using that same punch that Margie suggested. Everyone loves it and it's so easy. NO, Tim-may we do not spike our punch! This isn't a church shower though, so some of the people I know coming would probably like that though! :toofunny |
