I agree with someone who posted a comment on the news website ... 1) the lady waits 3 months to notify police about it; 2) no evidence other than her word versus his; 3) repeat the first two...

It does sound like the accusation of a woman scorned, as someone commented. I'd be careful and not rush to judge this man before more facts are known or evidence is presented.

I agree. 3 months is a loooong time to wait to report something. I bet there is more to this story. Problem is even if he is innocent she has managed to ruin his reputation.

Exactly. After the Duke Lacrosse fiasco and other false rape reports, there needs to be legal action and penalty filed against those who would file a false report and lie to police about this serious crime. And the penalty should be tough. There's too much of this that's been happening lately, and for the accused their reputation is completely ruined regardless while most of the time the woman gets off without so much as a warning.

Sad, sad position for the man and his entire church to be in. Given the prevalence of false reports and the circumstances of this case it is perhaps best to let the whole thing drag out before reaching a conclusion.

Why be quick to believe either one of them? Lots of people wait to report sexual assault, and many never report, whether because of fear, or of lack of resolve or confidence, etc. And I don't see in the news story that there is no evidence. It doesn't mention any, but, as Esther said, I'm sure there is more to this story.

Having handled dozens of these cases from both prosecution AND defense I would hesitate to judge either side at this point.

I am very familiar with this group of Apostolics.

They are VERY, VERY strict on outward appearances and I think there was something else that made them a bit more legalistic, but I don't remember.


Anyway, because of what I know about the people who attend churches in this fellowship, I simply don't believe the woman is telling the truth here.


Besides, Bishop Faulkner is highly reputable in the Washington, DC area and vicinity. Sure it's possible he could fall like this because he is human and humans can have wicked ways.

The worst thing he can do is step down... its a implied admission that something happened.

Also he would be wise to do a certified lie detector test from a 3rd party company with other ministers in his fellowship present. That would wipe out most of the problems if innocent.

And its reason number 1,000,000 of why ministers should never counsel any female without their wife present or have their wife or a female staff minister do all female counseling.

"...there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known" (Matthew 10:26). If it is or isn't of truth it shall be revealed, God will protect the man of God if it isn't of a truth, and if it is... well my sincere prayers go out to all those effected by this situation.

I really want to believe this (and in an eternal perspective I am sure it's true) but I also know the guilty walk and the innocent suffer shame...

I just pray justice is done.

Hope you're right. I suspect, however, that a great number of innocent people are convicted and sentenced, and a great number of guilty people go free. It's not a perfect system, and God doesn't always answer prayers for healing -- why do you think He'd always answer prayers for truth to be revealed?
