Acts 8:14
I was just wondering why there was a cause for Peter and John to come to Samaria. It was then that they rec'd the HG. It seems as though Philip coupld have got the job done. He was obviously qualified as he was preaching the gospel and witnessing other miracles.
Just wondering. |

He received the same power that the rest of the 119 received at Pentecost. |

He had the keys the power to bind and loose. John was a witness at Samaria and the six brethren were his witness with the Gentiles. |

Later in the chapter are we to believe the Eunuch rec'd the H.G.? |

Vice versa ... indeed .... I find it amazing that Oneness folks dont understand Mt 18:16 |
Oneness folks would rather make the rock a man or their doctrine ... UNREAL.

Yet another thread, starting out with a question about a verse, and being derailed almost immediately by one man's insistence on waging verbal warfare against a class of people...
Sad. |

Why didn't it happen with Phillip? Perhaps the essay wouldn't have been long enough without a few irrelevant details??? |
"But what are the keys?"
The "keys" is a metaphor for the ability to unlock (and lock) the "door to the kingdom", which is accomplished through anointed preaching and teaching. The scribes and Pharisees took away the "key of knowledge" from people via their false doctrines. The key(s) therefore is a metaphor for that correct knowledge which allows one entrance into the kingdom of God as a citizen, with all its attendant priviledges and reponsibilities. |
