Perhaps you should add John Wesley, Rev. Philipp Jakob Spencer, Rev. George Fox & Friends, Jonathan Edwards, Charles Finney and George Whitfield as well!

Re: My favorite preachers

My list has changed over the years. I really don't have a list much these days. If I did, it would be men that added to my life over the years. I have favorite teachers, writers... favorites who inspire, exhort, favorites who serve, favorites who inspire me to be a better Christian.

As far as crafting a sermon... ProudFather probably wouldn't recognize any of the names on my list. You have a respectable list though. Very able speakers in that group.

Yeah. It took "guts" - but he'd have been better served if he had taken his Bible along as well.

My wife and I went to Matt Chandler's church a couple weeks ago. One of the best services I have ever been in and Chandler didn't even preach. Maybe I just felt at home because it was the first Calvinist church service I had ever been in.

And herein lies the problem with religion....the creation is worshipped more than the Creator. Religion talks about its preachers more than its God.

I knew him because he ued to come to TN to preach for the McCool's a lot. I knew the Sizemore's and the Zoz's back in their ALJC days. I thought we had talked about this before. I loved the Covanent Choir, still an old cd somewhere.

Too bad nobody had the guts to sit him down. There is a time and place for preaching stuff with no biblical foundation... never and nowhere.
