Randy's Annual Vacation Pics

Well, here they are! Straight from Punta cana in the Dominican Republic.

This is the view from our balcony.
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...0/DSC00606.jpg

The pool, which is actually about three times longer than what you can see here. It just kept going and curving around.

My new bud. We're having a VERY serious conversation.

There were two parrots (Scarlet Macaws) who had the run of the whole resort, but they basically stayed near their handlers. Here is one walking into the gift shop.

On the way to our room.

I call this photo simply "Why?".

All this is missing is the bottle of Corona at my feet.

Another shot of the pool where it circles the steak house. Yes, people would be eating and you would be swimming right underneath them.

Pic of my lovely wife as we are waiting to be seated at that same steak house.

Guess what contest THIS is?

Yes, it is "them" again.

Looks like a blast, dude.

Don't for get to skirt on over to Haiti and volunteer a few days while you are in the area... :)

Re: Randy's Annual Vacation Pics

We were actually quite a ways from Haiti, but it is amazing how little damage the DR side suffered from the quake. The building codes are dramatically different between the two nations as a result of the general increase level of freedom and capitalism, and somewhat less corruption that the DR enjoys over Haiti.

Awesome photos! Looks like an incredible place to visit.

That bird was beautiful! And the pool? Wow, I want one of those! :)

Your "Why" photo made me automatically think "The Thinker" from Dobie Gillis that I think you use a similar avatar from time to time? LOL

Thanks. She is but has grown up such a tom boy that she needs a LOT of encouragement to dress up since she does not see herself as that attractive.

And next June, or early July, I'll be doing it again. Actually it might be even earlier since we're looking at a cruise in mid February.

Maybe, but I'm sure you can help her in the encouragement department! No one can do
that better than a devoted spouse! I know!

Once my wife's work situation is in order we are planning a cruise. We have been on a couple and they are great. I also owe her a trip to Europe since I spent 2 months there without her.

We have never been on one but a few people have been trying their hardest to get us to go. I want to go but we always backed out when we saw how expensive things are when you actually add it all up. But we may just bite the bullet this time and do it.

Keep in mind that they are all inclusive, other than shore excursions, and my advice is don't go with the expensive outside cabins you wont spend much time in your room anyway.

They are not as all inclusive as I was led to believe which is part of the problem. For one thing I have to pay 30 bucks for a card that allows me all the soda I want (just irks me that they charge extra for it when coffee and tea is free) also adult beverages are incredibly pricey.

True. And the beverage card is newer than my last cruise. They make the bucks on the adult beverages.

We just came back from a short 4 day trip to Glen Canyon and Monument Valley on the extreme edge of Arizona and Utah.

Horseshoe bend in the Colorado river just South of the Glen Canyon dam.
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...0/IMG_0078.jpg

My lovely wife sitting on the edge. I think (know) she does this just to irritate me.

Upper Antelope canyon.

Although the argument was minor, the lesson learned is that there should be no pushing for shoving near a rock ledge.

:thumbsup Both Randy and his lovely bride are very talented photographers. I like to think I am on par, but I lack the right equipment to prove it.

The secret that few realize is that professional photographers (and us) took about 800+ pics between us on this trip. There were many MANY duds.

I really do hate it when she does that. It was far worse at the Grand Canyon but she can get right near the edge while the ground is spinning for me if I get 10 feet away.
