My Dad was commenting to me about how hot it has been in the DC area-- 100 degrees+!

Florida has been hot, but thank God for the breezes that come ever so often.

I think you guys are west of the Smokies and I know that once I read something about the pollution from the east coast somehow getting trapped by the Smokies and thus causing havoc on the weather and the environment in Tennessee.

I read three different reports online yesterday of heat indexes in Selmer and Jackson being over 120! To me the heat isn't as bad as the air quality, which I'm guessing is due to the heat index. It almost hurts to breathe outside right now.

True, very true, but a couple of things to keep in mind...

We're three hours behind you timewise. We've not warmed up yet for today.

Our summer starts at the end April and goes to the end of September.

And the usual low temperature this time of year is around 85-89 degrees.

After living here nine years, I've also come to the conclusion that anything above 105 is just plain hot, doesn't matter what it says on the thermometer.

I am about 4 blocks accross the Chattanooga Tennessee line, in GA and we are having a thunder storm but even so, it is still 96 outside.

To hot in the day time to do anything.

We have been miserable here in LA. The humidity has been 85% and the temps have been 97-100 degrees! We got a rain storm today and hopefully the heat has broken.

Yesterday we maxed out at 110. Today it was supposed to get to 112, no idea if we made it there. We have an excessive heat warning in place until 5 am tomorrow. Yes, that means it's going to be excessively hot overnight (excessively hot = low temperature probably no lower than 90). YUCK.

You are complaining about how hot it is there, but try having that for 6 months straight. We don't have the humidity with it, but 113 is hot no matter what. The killer is that you lose so much bodily fluid and not sweat. Drink lots of water.

I keep telling people that I can handle this heat here in East Mesa far far FAR better then I can handle the constant single digits and sub zero temps of Wisconsin for 3-5 months.

....hot water comes from both taps.

....you can make sun tea instantly.

....you learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.

....the temperature drops below 95 F (35 C) and you feel a little chilly.

....you discover that in July it only takes two fingers to steer your car.

....you discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.

....you actually burn your hand opening the car door.

....you break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 A.M.

....your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and

end up lying on the pavement and cook to death"?

....you realize that asphalt has a liquid stage.

....the potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out

and add butter.

....the cows are giving evaporated milk.

....farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from
