All you economic-minded folks....do you believe we are headed for inflation or delfation and why? Thanks!

We are headed for severe depression because you can't continue to dilute the money supply and not eventually pay the consequences. The dollar is worth nearly nothing and yet they continue to print more money.

The dollar is worth less the 4 cents today compared to 1913 when the Not so Federal not so much a Reserve was created.

Some are saying we are going to have deflation because they have not printed near enough money to cover our defaults and can't do so.

I've always leaned towards inflation, but I admittedly don't know a lot a
bout deflation.

I view inflation and deflation as the 2 cycles of the Fed's money pump. One just has to think backward from reality to spot the money pump at work.

First they inflate the economy by pumping too much money into it. This is call deflation. Go figure.

Then they deflate the economy by restricting the flow of money and causing mass failures on loans and major slow downs of the economy. This is called inflation... once again... go figure.

So they pump in non existent money out of thin air into the economy causing a lot of loans to take place and construction to ramp up.

Then they cut off the flow of non existent money out of thin air which causes the economy to tank and they then repossess your real property for not paying back their fake money.

Ahhhh... the beauty of the art of usury. No wonder God don't like it.

So, I guess the really spiritual folks don't use the money system of this world.
Instead they build their own house/shelter with material that doesn't cost them anything, they grow their own food, they produce their own cloth and leather to make clothing, and they walk or ride an animal everywhere. This way they would have no income so would not have to pay any taxes.

Dunno Sam. I'm not willing to make that type of judgment on people's spirituality.

Nothing was said about using the money system anyway. Usury is only in relation to debt.

Serious. We are headed for very bad times if we continue in the direction we are headed. To the point of 'the end of the world as we know it' (teotwawkt) as a possibility. Not to to be confused with The End of the World.
The line between civilization and chaos is very thin indeed.

I agree with the very Smarmy Rev DWW.

Hyper Inflation is not only the thing that looks most logical, but when you think about it, from a "I run the gubbermint" view, hyperinflation lets you get out of debt because all the sudden those dollars owed are worth far less.

Yeah... that is one way of looking at it. That is also why I have a small collection of pre 1965 silver coins. Something that will, to a certain extent, hold value when the dollar sinks.

I don't see inflation as happening anytime soon, because the Federal Reserve's primary mandate for the last 30 years has been to keep inflation under control. Nobody wants to return to the bad old days of the late 70s into the 80s. Why, I remember when I got student loans for law school and they were at a (for the time) measly 10 percent interest! Everyone congratulated me--the interest rate on my parents' home was, by comparison, 18 percent.

Speaking of housing...I do think we've seen deflation in the housing market. I know that here in Arizona, houses are worth 1/2 to 1/3 of what they were worth five years ago. Many of us are "upside down" on our homes, even if we can afford to pay the mortgages. This is deflation too.

Maybe this is stagdeflation?

Remembering that INflation is actually the DEflation of the dollar...

The dollar is worth less than 4 cents today compared to the day the privately owned and operated Federal Reserve was created to "keep inflation under control".

Hang loose... those bad days of the 70's & 80's are going to be the good ole days by the time this ride is over with.

True, we are in a period of deflation. But hyper inflation is just around the corner perhaps within the next year. Our nation 's economy is in serious trouble. In the last Great Depression we had manufacturing to pull us out. How much manufacturing do we do in the country now?
What happens to the employee's of service the "service industries" when service can no longer be afforded?

Deflation, due to the slowing economy of China they are starting to flood us with exports. Plus, the feds will keep inflation down as long as the economy is in the shape its in. however, make no mistake about it, inflation is coming.

The only hope we have is to get the current regime and his party out and get strong conservatives who will stop the spending in a strong majority to get policies that are favorable to those mean old greedy businesses so they can start hiring again.

One scenario that some see is deflation for real estate and commercial real estate and inflation for commodities. Maybe we will see a little of both.

I lean more towards inflation on the whole because they are going to have to raise interest rates. There's no real place to go but up.

I am very concerned about the state of our economy. If real estate deflates further, we all lose equity. Then, when commodities go up, we lose there too.

What do you all see concerning the state of the dollar? Do you think it will collapse and no longer be the reserve currency? Or do you see another scenario?

I think it is a fair assumption to assume deflation for real estate and inflation for commodities. As the dollar continues to lose value and the economy continues to tank then a higher premium will be placed on daily needs and nice expensive houses won't be able to get the money they used to get for that house.

Deflation in the housing market doesn't affect lower end homes like it does the higher end homes because much of the "value" of the higher end homes was drummed up by easy money. The value wasn't true to reality. So as home values begin to reflect a number nearer (or even lower than) true value the deflation is actually a correction.

I bought my house a little over 2 years ago for $10,000 so I won't see much in correction. As a matter of fact I could sell the house now for $50-60,000. But I shopped long and hard (2 years) and I purposely bought low end house that had great potential and was in a safe neighborhood. Also my house was a bank repo that had been on the market for over a year. They were asking $24-28,000 and I offered them 10.

But when money is free and easy (and viewed as such) people don't do these things. They see a house... it's a pretty house... they want it... money is easy... so they buy it.

This reasoning will cost them dearly.

The dollar will collapse and give way to another currency. That is why millions in savings does no good. They will decide the exchange rate (if any) and they will decide how rich or poor you suddenly are.

The "man behind the curtain" is the Federal Reserve and I don't believe there is anything we can do to change a thing. They have the purse and puppet strings. I don't care who we vote in or out, the Federal Reserve, if not investigated, reigns supreme. And last time I checked, people were scared to death of what we would find.

We are the people. There is nothing we cannot do.

But there is much we don't have the resolve to do.

People still argue over their flavor of establishment candidates.
People still say voting "3rd party" is a wasted vote.

All of this sold to us daily by the bought and paid for controlled mass media.

Until we get our heads out of the ground that establishment candidates are more of the same and quit buying the media lies. You are right.

But it isn't because we can't. It's because we won't.

I used to think we could only be a two-party system, but with the Tea party emergence, I'm thinking we may possibly get something done - maybe.

Money is power, and obviously, someone has it to hold us by the neck so strongly. Someone very powerful is backing Obama or he wouldn't continue with such strong and open arrogance, defying the will of the people.

I have come around on the idea of a third party but it has to be done the right way.

The absolute recipe for failure is the one that has been used time and time again.

Since 1900 there have been numerous third party runs and every one of those have done 2 things.
First, they have lost. Second they have actually caused the election of the party the least identify with.

They always start by trying to run for President.

It does not work. It will not work and doing this is simply going to insure democrats who represent the worst possible option will win if we continue to use this failed model.

Someone once said the definition of insanity is repeating the same behavior and expecting a different result.


If you want a Third Party to succeed, it has to start by building a grass roots organization that elects local officials, then proceeds to win seats in state houses then moves to winning seats in congress. ONLY once there is a power base should they run for the Executive positions of Governor and President.

WHEN... not if... but WHEN a third party succeeds it will be the culmination of the momentum of all the small starts before.

Local runs are absolutely necessary but a 3rd party can completely take over a state and that puts us only 2% there.

National runs gets info out. The current Tea Party movement isn't a new one. It is a growing old one. There are a bunch of people who think it is new because they are new at it but those of us who have been pushing this agenda for a long time understand that it is simply momentum from tireless attempts at change election after election after election. People weren't willing to get on board but it is becoming undeniable that we are in big trouble and now people are willing to get on board.

The current Tea Party movement was born out of the life breathed into a youth movement born out of Ron Paul's presidential candidacy.

The National run for presidency had no chance that time around but did astoundingly well compared to runs before. Each time 3rd party candidates do better because times are getting worse. Run local everywhere we can... but national recognition is not wrong.

When we first moved to our area, we only had a couple of people on the ballot running as an Independent. Now, we have someone in every spot. So, it is progressing. They just haven't had the cash to put their names out there. Thankfully, the Tea party movement, Facebook, Twitter, etc. are working for them. :thumbsup

We bought the house we are in one year ago as a foreclosure...under market value and in the country. We looked long and hard. We drive real estate agents crazy, but we know what we are looking for, usually, and they can never figure it out.

Unfortunately, our other house is still for sale. We knew this was a risk going in....we were supposed to close today but banks are not lending and the financial part fell through for them and so we lose. Now, we are trying to decide....rent....owner finance....keep trying to sell.....beat our heads on the wall. There were others who wanted to buy.....but could not get financing either. Overall...even though we lost money on our last one....we gained enough on this one to still feel good about our choice. Much happier in this house. We are looking to make some investments now and get out of the rat race eventually.

Why do you say the dollar will collapse rather than might? That sounds awfully certain. I have heard a couple of scenarios. One being that no one wants to be the reserve currency because they cannot import more than they export.

I agree with this. I don't even talk about my views much because people are still swooning over Obama and they think I'm nuts. Meanwhile, I'll just plot my course. I do think that republicans or democrats....they're all the same at the top for the most part....

Over a three month period, January through March in 2009 I kept a spreadsheet of the houses which sold in our neighborhood. I live in a city called Forest Park. We have about 20,000 people and about 2/3 are African American. A local newspaper recorded property transfers. I looked up the property information on our local county auditor's site which lists property information such as address, owner's name, property evaluation, real estate taxes paid, evaluation history for several years, and transfer history for several years.

Over the first quarter of 2009 the average transfer price was 61 percent of the appraised value.

My sister, Betsy, and I were in the Nazi concentration camp at Ravensbruck because we committed the crime of loving Jews. Seven hundred of us from Holland, France, Russia, Poland and Belgium were herded into a room built for two hundred. As far as I knew, Betsy and I were the only two representatives of Heaven in that room.

We may have been the Lord's only representatives in that place of hatred, yet because of our presence there, things changed. Jesus said, "In the world you shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." We too, are to be overcomers – bringing the light of Jesus into a world filled with darkness and hate.

Sometimes I get frightened as I read the Bible, and as I look in this world and see all of the tribulation and persecution promised by the Bible coming true. Now I can tell you, though, if you too are afraid, that I have just read the last pages. I can now come to shouting "Hallelujah! Hallelujah!" for I have found where it is written that Jesus said,

"He that overcometh shall inherit all things:
and I will be His God,
and he shall be My son."
This is the future and hope of this world. Not that the world will survive – but that we shall be overcomers in the midst of a dying world.
Betsy and I, in the concentration camp, prayed that God would heal Betsy who was so weak and sick.
"Yes, the Lord will heal me,", Betsy said with confidence.
She died the next day and I could not understand it. They laid her thin body on the concrete floor along with all the other corpses of the women who died that day.

It was hard for me to understand, to believe that God had a purpose for all that. Yet because of Betsy's death, today I am traveling all over the world telling people about Jesus.

There are some among us teaching there will be no tribulation, that the Christians will be able to escape all this. These are the false teachers that Jesus was warning us to expect in the latter days. Most of them have little knowledge of what is already going on across the world. I have been in countries where the saints are already suffering terrible persecution.

In China, the Christians were told, "Don't worry, before the tribulation comes you will be translated – raptured." Then came a terrible persecution. Millions of Christians were tortured to death. Later I heard a Bishop from China say, sadly,

"We have failed.
We should have made the people strong for persecution,
rather than telling them Jesus would come first.
Tell the people how to be strong in times of persecution,
how to stand when the tribulation comes,
– to stand and not faint."
I feel I have a divine mandate to go and tell the people of this world that it is possible to be strong in the Lord Jesus Christ. We are in training for the tribulation, but more than sixty percent of the Body of Christ across the world has already entered into the tribulation. There is no way to escape it.
We are next.
Since I have already gone through prison for Jesus' sake, and since I met the Bishop in China, now every time I read a good Bible text I think, "Hey, I can use that in the time of tribulation." Then I write it down and learn it by heart.

When I was in the concentration camp, a camp where only twenty percent of the women came out alive, we tried to cheer each other up by saying, "Nothing could be any worse than today." But we would find the next day was even worse. During this time a Bible verse that I had committed to memory gave me great hope and joy.

"If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye;
for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you;
on their part evil is spoken of,
but on your part He is glorified."
(I Peter 3:14)
I found myself saying, "Hallelujah!
Because I am suffering, Jesus is glorified!"
In America, the churches sing, "Let the congregation escape tribulation", but in China and Africa the tribulation has already arrived. This last year alone more than two hundred thousand Christians were martyred in Africa. Now things like that never get into the newspapers because they cause bad political relations. But I know. I have been there. We need to think about that when we sit down in our nice houses with our nice clothes to eat our steak dinners. Many, many members of the Body of Christ are being tortured to death at this very moment, yet we continue right on as though we are all going to escape the tribulation.

Several years ago I was in Africa in a nation where a new government had come into power. The first night I was there some of the Christians were commanded to come to the police station to register. When they arrived they were arrested and that same night they were executed. The next day the same thing happened with other Christians. The third day it was the same. All the Christians in the district were being systematically murdered.

The fourth day I was to speak in a little church. The people came, but they were filled with fear and tension. All during the service they were looking at each other, their eyes asking, "Will this one I am sitting beside be the next one killed? Will I be the next one?"

The room was hot and stuffy with insects that came through the screenless windows and swirled around the naked bulbs over the bare wooden benches. I told them a story out of my childhood.

"When I was a little girl, " I said, "I went to my father and said,
"Daddy, I am afraid that I will never be strong enough to be a martyr for Jesus Christ."
"Tell me," said Father,
"When you take a train trip to Amsterdam,
when do I give you the money for the ticket?
Three weeks before?"

"No, Daddy, you give me the money for the ticket just before we get on the train."

"That is right," my father said, "and so it is with God's strength.
Our Father in Heaven knows when you will need the strength to be a martyr for Jesus Christ.
He will supply all you need – just in time…"

My African friends were nodding and smiling.
Suddenly a spirit of joy descended upon that church and the people began singing,

" In the sweet, by and by,
we shall meet on that beautiful shore."
Later that week, half the congregation of that church was executed.
I heard later that the other half was killed some months ago.
But I must tell you something. I was so happy that the Lord used me to encourage these people, for unlike many of their leaders, I had the word of God. I had been to the Bible and discovered that Jesus said He had not only overcome the world, but to all those who remained faithful to the end, He would give a crown of life.

How can we get ready for the persecution?

First we need to feed on the Word of God, digest it, make it a part of our being. This will mean disciplined Bible study each day as we not only memorize long passages of scripture, but put the principles to work in our lives.

Next we need to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Not just the Jesus of yesterday, the Jesus of History,
but the life-changing Jesus of today who is still alive
and sitting at the right hand of God.

We must be filled with the Holy Spirit. This is no optional command of the Bible, it is absolutely necessary. Those earthly disciples could never have stood up under the persecution of the Jews and Romans had they not waited for Pentecost. Each of us needs our own personal Pentecost, the baptism of the Holy Spirit. We will never be able to stand in the tribulation without it.

In the coming persecution we must be ready to help each other and encourage each other.
But we must not wait until the tribulation comes before starting.
The fruit of the Spirit should be the dominant force of every Christian's life.

Many are fearful of the coming tribulation, they want to run. I, too, am a little bit afraid when I think that after all my eighty years, including the horrible Nazi concentration camp, that I might have to go through the tribulation also.
But then I read the Bible and I am glad.

When I am weak, then I shall be strong, the Bible says. Betsy and I were prisoners for the Lord, we were so weak, but we got power because the Holy Spirit was on us. That mighty inner strengthening of the Holy Spirit helped us through. No, you will not be strong in yourself when the tribulation comes. Rather, you will be strong in the power of Him who will not forsake you. For seventy-six years I have known the Lord Jesus and not once has He ever left me, or let me down.

"Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him", (Job 13:15)
