Muslim Americans continue to give President Barack Obama the highest job approval rating of any major religious group in the U.S., while Mormons give the president the lowest ratings.

I'm sure the Muslims like him.
They think (right or wrong) that he is one of them.

obama's polls don't mean anything. What really matters is, is there a republican that can beat him? not

The name of the book Obama is reading is called:

The Post-American World, and it was written by a fellow Muslim.

"Post" America means the world After America !

Post American World is written by Fareed Zakaria, the host of GPS. A sunday afternoon cnn show. He is also an editor at newsweek. Fareed was raised a muslim but he is now a secularist. He is one of the leading scholarly voices in the world today. What would you have Obama read? Glen Beck? Get real.

However, there many Republicans who will beat their Democrat incumbents and then we'll see how things shape up.

I think the House and the Senate will have GOP majorities very soon. Many Democrats are disheartened because Obama is not to the left enough. Most Conservatives are enraged because Obama has been painted to be just a little shy of communist. This will affect who turns out to vote and who they will vote for.

If in fact the GOP does gain control of the House and the Senate (something I am still not convinced will happen) it will be interesting to see if Obama will do what Bill Clinton did and that is to recalibrate and work with them to get some things done.

I think it will be harder for Obama because I think he is a true believer from his Community Activist roots that Socialism and redistribution of wealth is a must do. Clinton had no moral or core values so it was easy for him to tack right when the GOP took control in 94. He jettisoned Hillary's nationalized health care plans so fast I am sure her head spun!

GOP majorities?

I doubt it but many are hoping for it.

If we do get GOP majorities I doubt it will be a large enough figure to over ride a BHO veto. I also doubt the GOP majority will do much more than a lot of posturing and pontificating but probably will do nothing of substance. I doubt if they will try to reverse any legislation passed by the Dems. And the stuff they hold out for carrots before a gullible public (like health care reform, action on abortion, job creation, etc) will continue to be dangled out there with no actual action.

You speak as if you have been down this road before. :)

yeah, can't remember the year any more but we wound up with a GOP president and GOP majorities in the House and Senate. I found the email addresses of our two senators from Ohio and told them that my wife and I were both registered Republicans from Hamilton County, OH and I hoped they would not be a "do nothing" legislature. I don't remember if I even got a form reply or not and I don't think they really did anything either.

I realize the two parties have separate platforms and "in theory" different policies but it doesn't seem to actually work out that way.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely-- even within the bounds of Democracy.

No one has absolute power in a democracy, not even the president.

The republicans are going to need a dang good presidential candidate to beat Obama in the 2012 election.

I don't know. I just know that in the 2004 election I was a democrat. I felt like hardly anyone would vote for Bush. Of course I also knew a great deal of church folk would just because he was Republican but even with that I couldn't see him winning the election. Of course he did. The democrats ran a very weak candidate in John Kerry IMO. If the Republicans hope to win I hope they have a very good candidate because once the Obama reelection campaign gets going its going to draw alot of people back to him.
