Global Network Conference 2010

Were there any of the AFF'ers in attendance at GMCM Conference this week? DA I looked for you but couldn't find anyone with glasses that looked like yours.

If you were there what did you think of it?

Crowd seemed to not be as large as I would have expected!

I didn't attend all services. Was there Tuesday night. Chris Hodges I though was excellent. I didn't listen with ideas in mind that he didn't have all the truth...just listened to what he had to say. Again I thought it was excellent.

John Hagee did a good job defining his ministry with Israel and the Jews.

Heard only last part of Nancy Alcorn. She was passionate and very informative.

Randy Clark... I've heard him do better.

Again, I was not there for all of it.... so who am I to judge? But, IMO there have been better conferences.

Re: Global Network Conference 2010

The number I kept hearing was 300-350 ministers attended ... of course that would be spread out ...

Wed. nite is a normal Grace service night .... which may account for Tuesday's thinner #'s.

I won't drop names but there were several current UPCI ministers in attendance ... as well as a veritable who's who of the past ... liberal rabble rousers.

All stated it was one of the best conferences they had been to..
Most importantly, the Holy Spirit manifested.

I enjoyed the after party last night ... was shocked that a handful are reading here at AFF.

As for Joel Osteen ... I understand he didn't "speak" per se ...

He was interviewed by Scott Jones, the chairman .... a UPCI minister remarked that they were stunned by Osteen's humility

The consensus was that Chris Hodges, who spoke multiple times, stole the show.

I've heard some say that it's the best conference they've had yet. I had to cancel our plans at the last minute and didn't get to attend. I would have loved to have seen everyone.

I wasn't there so I was on of them that you didn't see.

So any number estimate? I know there are many things more important than the crowd but since they obviously, to me anyway, went for a crowd by using Hagee and Osteen, I'm just wondering how much success they had with it.

Not sure it was directed at the laity, MS. There wasn't a lot of promotion for this conference at the local church level ... yes they shared the lineup ... but not pushed hard ...

Those familiar with Global know its push is toward networking ministers ... and not churches

So Joel Osteen is held in esteem by this group? And its considered a good and reputable organization? How do you all feel about his teaching? Is he a minister of the Apostles doctrine?

If you tickle the ears, you get higher attendance?

Are you going to get your ears tickled?

Will they have some good emergent leader pump them up and lead them into being relevant?

I belong to Global but I'm not involved to any point that I knew this. Guess it makes sense. I know that I've never received as much direct mail, posters, flyers, emails, requests to pray, requests to fast, as I did for this event. They were obviously taking it very seriously.

So you're saying there's no effort to connect churches in GNCM? I didn't know that. I just assumed they did.

I feel great about his teaching. Yes, he is a minister of the "Apostle's Doctrine."

It's "MR. Smith" to you, pal.:razz

Since you're assuming the role of Doctrine Nazi, consider what the bible says:

When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, your lives will produce these evil results: sexual immorality, impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure, idolatry, participation in demonic activities, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, divisions, the feeling that everyone is wrong except those in your own little group, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other kinds of sin. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Enjoy your "Own little group."

Jesus encountered the same problem. There are so many that want religion, they don't want God. There are not different versions of the truth. And the only way to get the truth is through Jesus Christ.

If someone doesn't like Osteen or anyone else that is cool, but you have the right to your opinion. All I know is the man can motivate people to want to be better people and better christians. If someone can't see or here that then your heart and ears are clogged, but that is my opinion.

Global conferences are never very big that I have seen. It is a much smaller org. than the UPCI and their conferences are not social events for a closed culture like Gen conf is for UPCers.
