Dental Spa!!

I went to a new dentist today that is just down the road from our church, since I had been driving about 20 miles. Little did I know I was in for a total spa experience!! When I got there, I got a paraffin hand dip, a eucalyptis neck massage, a cool eye mask, soothing music in a spa-type room, and limeade. That was all before I saw a hygienist or dentist!! My total out of pocket cost was $21, and that was for the optional flouride treatment. My insurance covered the rest. I felt like I had been to a day spa. I asked them for a facial and manicure, but they declined.:toofunny

Wow - - what's a paraffin hand dip got to do with your teeth? That's pretty cool though!

Wow! Wish mine did that! Would make going to the dentist a little more pleasant, which is probably the purpose.

That's awesome. Makes me wonder if anyone can afford to go there who does not have dental insurance tho?

Wow! I have a dentist appointment at 8 am tomorrow to finish my tooth implant. My almost four months of looking like an East Tennessee hillbilly are coming to an end! Could not believe how long it takes the bone to grow around the implanted post.

However my dentist has NONE of the amenties you described above.

Yeah, I wondered that too. We never had dental insurance until recently, and we have a group policy now. I don't ever have to pay for routine cleanings twice a year, including xrays. That part is really nice.

Dentist aren't a real profitable biz in TN because most people in TN only have a few teeth anyway.

Just Sayin....

Well,

you know the saying.....

The farther south
the less teeth in the mouth

and also:

Q: how do we know the toothbrush was invented by a southerner?

A: Otherwise it would have been called the teeth brush

Yup. It is 4 people with 4 teeth. Each person has a set of eyes and arms, but not a full head of teeth.

But all 4 have 2 eyes each?
none have had an eye gouged out yet or lost an eye in a fight or fireworks accident?

Not the ones in TN because they care about their eyes because they HAVE to watch the Vols play football.

WOW. I HATE going to the dentist, because the notion of someone working in my mouth is difficult to deal with. This would make it somewhat better, I think.

(Oh, and if you have my phobia, get over it and get your dental work done, because you don't want to wait years and then find out you need four crowns and a filling. It's not just the pain of the work but also the pain in your wallet!)

What they got for guys? Dental sports bar? ... Hey. Not a bad idea!

Re: Dental Spa!!

Wow, that would enhance the experience.

In the past few years I've visited dentists with some attempts to distract you.

A lady dentist giving me my first root canal had headphones and you selected music you liked to lay back and relax. (when you tend to be sleep deprived.........you fall asleep:toofunny)

More than one dentist has a tv mounted on the wall; one had a huge selection of movies and you could request a favorite.

Compared to the horrid chairs of the 50's and 60's the new "chaise lounge chairs" are an improvement.

And only a few of my many dental procedures involved dental insurance:spit

You can watch the Cowboys get beat. It hurts more than the root canal.

It's better to look like an east Tennessee hillbilly than a west Tennessee red neck!

Taking 6 years to graduate high school is not "some class" that is a lot of class.

I am an East TN hillbilly, but with all my teeth. I am actually out west now and miss TN really bad. You'd be hard pressed to know that I am from E.T. unless you saw me during football season.

Sherri, my dentist has a page on Facebook. Do you mind if I copy your post and suggest to them on there that they learn something from your new dentist?

Dental "insurance" more like it. Bring your checkbook and/or credit cards.

That would be great; I think it's an awesome idea for relaxing patients before the "bad" stuff.
