a little lady asking for help

My heart was broken this week by a little lady that is coming to the Murcei church. She too was among the thousands that lost everything in the recent floods. Sunday night she came to me to tell me whoever had loaned them a tent had asked for it back. Someone gave her permission to build a shack on a piece of land and she asked me, “ Missionary, do you think your friends could help me buy some tiles, for a roof, cement for the floor?” Someone has promised her some old used boards.
I just called to ask about the price of tiles (roof) and they quoted I would need around 250. 00 dollars to buy tiles and a couple bags of cement. We here in Brazil are going to raise the money for the other things she needs. I am NOT asking for myself but for a little homeless lady…Yes, I know there are still thousands and we have been helping all we can since the floods but the needs are overwhelming. Our main project has been food and clothes.
Since some people criticize me for asking others to help others I almost did not even write anything thinking maybe I could raise the money some other way but early this morning my phone rang again…asking about this need….so I ask you to help me pray that this little lady and sister in Christ can at least get enough material together to build her a little shack…

I like the houses. They are what Americans call green construction. My relatives in Mexico built out of sod. After adding stucco, they hold up to some rain. The people are more gratefull for their homes than we are.

many of the people live like this...the litle place we want to build for the little sister will really be a shack but a little better than these homes.

I don't think you should feel bad for asking. This is basic human need........

My heart is often too soft...but I guess better too soft than too hard...It is dangerous when we become untouchable....

my inlaws lived in homes like this and so does one of Brother Alvear's sisters and family...America is a very blessed land.

sad that the little sister I am asking help for has nothing...not even a grass roof...we are more than blessed.

this afternoon I told the little lady I HAD REQUESTED HELP FOR HER....I know the Lord is going to use someone to be a direct channel of blessing in her life.

Sis. Alvear at any time if you think any of the pictures I posted on my FaceBook account would help, please feel free to use them.

I think my avatar pic isn't too far from the Sister you're trying to help. The avatar pic was taken in Rio Largo and I think you're referring to another village close by.

God Bless.
